Andrew Ference

Bottom 4 pairing defensemen with leadership, experience and stanley cup pedigree. One year left on his deal for about 2.25m. Just curious what he could net in a trade

He's more valuable to us then whatever wed get in a trade.

If we were to trade him tho I'd say a 2nd/3rd round pick is fair value. Not sure Id do that tho.

I wouldn't call him a bottom-pairing defenseman at all. He's a solid #4 and a #3 on plenty of teams.

I really liked him in Calgary. He's definitely undersized, but he plays a ballsy game. He moves the puck well and is a smart player too. I think he's one of the most thoughtful players in the league as well. That said, we just don't need a defenseman. We have 9 on 1 way deals already and TJ Brodie will likely make the team, so we have 10.

I don't think the bruins need to keep him, especially since he is no longer under contract after this season. Chara, seidenberg, boychuk, and Hamilton are all top four defensemen (Hamilton will likely be paired with seidenberg in his first season) while Torrey krug showed in limited action he can play in the nhl. Also with mcquaid and Aaron Johnson they could afford to trade him and look to improve in other areas. Whether its in the prospect pool or extra help on offense, power play specifically.

I think a 2nd is fair. A good veteran presence that would stabilize the defense of many teams in the league. I'd take him on the Leafs for sure.

How many times will we see him jump Subban in the back and start throwing punch like a *****? Can't wait to see Prust-White-Moen-Armstrong react to that.

No player/team is innocent of anything - let's be honest here.

What are you thoughts about Subban hitting the head and then proceeds to force himself to the ice covering his face without even trying to fight back?

I don't think Ference or any Bruin will be scared to face the "tough 4".

Anyways, back to the OP. Ference is well liked in Boston but if he's asking for too much then I can see Boston moving him but I don't think that'll be the case. He loves it here and the Bruins love having him here. He'll be back.

Value - High 2nd or Low 2nd + prospect.

IDK what was the outcome of Moen vs. Ference looked pretty even to me.

And White vs. Mcquaid? Quaider got in most of the good hits White just moved around crazily and White basically jumped Boychuk but he did beat him.

White is overrated by Canadien fans. All he's done is beat Boychuk. In almost all the fights I have seen him in he is just flailing around.

Trust the "new" Canadiens are not that tough.

LMAO I just saw the BGL thing

WOW still holding onto that one I see

That's pretty much what he is. If Hal Gill can fetch a high 2nd at the trade deadline, I'm sure Ference is worth at least the same. A lot of us (Bruins fans) were not happy with the $ when Chia signed Ference and thought something like 1.5M/year would have been fair, especially since he was so often injured, but it turned out to be a fine deal. He does nothing great but he does everything well enough. He always stands up for his teammates. Plus he makes people like Mrb1p mad, which is a nice bonus

No defenseman can or will be traded without us getting a better one that's better now. No prospects.

Go past Chara, Boychuk, Seids, McQuaid, Ference, and we have close to nothing... Hamilton will play this year but sparingly and he'll make mistakes. Krug is going to take a while to develop, and Tommy Cross is good but he could use some AHL time, too. Our defense is way too fragile and we saw the consequences of that in the playoffs... Zanon-Corvo/Mottau is a no-no.

Andrew Ferrence is a fringe hockey player who somehow becomes a fan favourite everywhere he plays. He was one of the idiots who hired Don Fehr. He is one of the people who deserve to be locked out. I hope his NHL career is done. Have fun in the KHL, Andy!

this. he lives and breathes the Bruin culture. He's not an all-star by any means, but it would take overpayment. He's not worth an overpayment to other teams, but he is worth more than his trade value to the B's if that makes sense.

Prust-White-Moen-Armstrong would have to answer to Lucic-McQuaid-Chara-Thornton. I don't like their chances. At all.

Just for kicks I'll make an offer.

To Boston:

Toni Lydman + 2 round.

To Anaheim:

Andrew Ference

If you think Armstrong is some kind of enforcer, or even a fighter in any capacity, you're in for a big disappointment.
