The fact the last meeting was held with some secrecy, about a number of issues AND lasted that long is encouraging. Of course that doesn't mean neither side will **** this up again. But when negotiations don't take place through the media, progress tends to be made.

I don't trust these guys, and refuse to be suckered again. However this is the best thing I've heard since September.

It's easy to make progress when you have two people in the room, neither of which is empowered to do a deal. When there's progress with the two obstructionists involved, then I'll start chilling the champagne...but I won't hold my breath on Don/Gary making any real progress before January, if then.

If we're still waiting in January, I think the season will be gone.
I don't understand why they just can't sit in a room for the day, and NEGOTIATE. No more of this look at the proposal, shoot it down, and come back in 3 weeks from here on out. That's not NEGOTIATING.
They could save a lot of time if they did just that.
There will be desperation in December, but I'm still not convinced that will translate into productive talks.
If not, it will translate into a canceled season and millions of lost revenue.

Because they're playing a game of chicken with each other, except the point of impact between the 2 cars is the cancellation of the season.
Apparently the players were hoping for a gradual decrease to 50% if they were going to give up the 57%. Maybe getting the owners to 52% or 53% and working down to 50% might be an acceptable compromise to the players, who knows at this point.
Plus they're still compromising over the finer details of the agreement too.
