Good for Doan. Didn't really want a player in VAN that didn't want to be there. I wonder if the Coyotes ownership thing falls apart if he just retires and leaves the franchise with that cap hit.

I never begrudged him taking his time, but if he signed without ownership in place I'm not really sure why he needed to drag things on until the 11th hour.

I'm going out on a limb and saying he did it to pressure the city of Glendale into working it out with Jamison. Doan was clear that he would not sign without an ownership agreement in place which obviously did not happen.

Finally. He must have enjoyed the spotlight while it lasted. Now he can go back into hiding in the desert and never be heard from again.

I'm not surprised but Bross made this into "The Days of Shane Doan's Lives".

If he was going for a blind leap of faith, he could have done it earlier. Still commendable, just WTF.

I was luke warm to the idea of him coming to Vancouver, especially for that term, but I mean, is this the kind of cost certainty the NHL is after? Giving an arguably over the hill arguably 30 goal scorer that kind of money seems hypocritical to their agenda.

I doan't know really, good on him for remaining loyal at least.

Good for him, and good for Pheonix fans... but why did he take so long? If he never planned on going anywhere else I can't help but feel that he used all these others teams to try to pressure Glendale and JIG to get the deal done. As a Canuck fan I feel a bit used, but regardless - good for Coyotes fans.
