Thanks for the review IceCapsNation, insights from Ice Cap fans are going to have to keep us Jet fans going.

Great to hear that Redmond looked good.

Nice to see MC at the game tonight.

Quote:
Former Winnipeg Jet Randy Carlyle and current True North Sports and Entertainment owner Mark Chipman joined IceCaps President and CEO Danny Williams, St. John’s Mayor Dennis O’Keefe and 86-year-old season ticket holder Margaret Thorne to drop the ceremonial opening faceoff.
Nice big 50/50

Quite the streak.

Friday’s home opener was the 47th consecutive sellout at Mile One Centre, including playoffs

For only their 2nd season, the Ice Caps are one well-run hockey club and business. Obviously not too big a surprise considering how well the Moose were run. So huge for the future of Jets players, ie. Burmi, Redmond, Pasquale. I cheered for a team in the Jets absence that went a year or two without an AHL affiliate. That was bush league.

Underdogs with ability.

I want more NHLers!

Burmistrov is downright dominant. In all aspects of the rink this guy dominates. He's the best player I've seen for stripping the puck off the opposition on a back check. His time in the AHL is really going to boost his confidence.

ONeil had a poor game. The poorest out of all icecaps. Looked out of shape IMO.

Telegin is going to be a stud, this kid is huge and he can skate like a pro. I was very impressed.

Chiraot, I was never an overly huge fan. I find him slow. As a fan I don't have much confidence, I understand he's young but sometimes you just know.

Redmond was the second best player on the ice for the icecaps. Burmistrov was number 1. Redmond will be a great NHL #2 dman. Very very impressed with him tonight.

For the record, I don't base my personal assessments on scoresheets and box scores, I find they can be misleading without actually knowing what was taking place.

Cheers all.
Thanks for the insights.

My totally-just-opinions-from-watching-a-small-sample-opinion:

Burmi - he's quite gifted and obviously playing in the AHL is going to accent that, not hide it haha. I was iffy on sending him into the AHL because I'm a strong supporter of developing in the highest competition that you can get good minutes for. Last year Burmistov spent a lot of TOI in the NHL level, so I don't think he needed the AHL... but there's no way this won't help his development.

O`Neill - I only caught a period of the last game but watched both last weekend, and I didn't see as much. I don't think he's quite ready for being a #3. It should be fine once Postma is back though. They will either split the toughs with Meech-Postma, O`Neill-Redmond, Arsene-Melchiori or put O`Neill and Melchiori together on the bottom pair and shelter them.

Telegin - agree but he needs to bring back that finishing touch he had at the Juniors

Chiarot and Sol - I don't think either of these have the ability to become a regular in the NHL, but I'm ok with that as depth defensemen are an important asset to have

Redmond - I'm wondering what I missed in two periods. #2 is quite a large jump in development compared to what most see, especially as he is 24, same age as Kulda, O`Neill, and Maxwell and only a year older than Pavelec and Little. I don't see the guy much better than a solid 3rd pairing, 5-6 with secondary PP and PK, kinda guy.

I don't want to open a can of worms here, but how did Couturier and Wellwood look lastnight?

Hahaha! Nice bank shot by Telegin off the Adirondack goalie from behind the net. His 1st goal of the year makes it 2-0 IceCaps.

EDIT: darn - 2-1 now on a PP goal.
EDIT: holey moley - 2-2 now. 2nd Adirondack goal comes seconds after the 1st. Meech wasn't able to clear the puck from the front of the net.

Burmistrov fired up out there - trying to control the play, and hitting anything that moves.

Ugh: 3-2 Adirondack. Scored on a 2 on 1. 7:54 left in the 3rd.
Ugh x 2: Schenn scores 50 seconds later. 4-2 Adirondack. That's 4 unanswered goals now.
