Harrington played McDavid tough. Looked like he remembered getting beat outside by McDavid earlier this year. The kid looked phenomenal though - Sid-esque, as advertised.

Maatta had a pretty nondescript outing. His game lacked urgency and wasn't making quick decisions out there.

I'm not watching our guys too closely, just kinda taking the whole game in. But if I'm not mistaken, Harrington seems just a touch more physical.

Archibald looked good too. He was just flying and all over the ice. He was pretty much playing like a pesky, annoying gnat all game. He'll be interesting to see what he becomes if he can add more size and punch to his game, while keeping his speed.
From the games I saw last year he is used in a bottom six role.

Yep, he can definitely add edge as needed. Got some snarl to him.

Some photos of Alex Velischek against Boston University last Saturday. He had an assist on the go-ahead goal (at the time).

As promised, my Teddy scouting report:

I did see that word did get to the board that he got a goal. It was a real beauty too, a semi-deke to throw the goalie one direction and stuffed it in another. Outside of that, the one thing I noticed is that he's really smart on the ice, positionally and disciplinary speaking. My only criticism of him is that he isn't as aggressive as he could be defensively. Of course, I can't get inside his head as to why this is, but my theories are either a) He isn't that confident in his strength yet or b) (and probably more likely) He doesn't want to get thrown into the boards by a much bigger opponent.

Nick D'Agostino picked up 2 assists and was +1 against USA Under 18s.
Ben Hanowski was a + 1 but was unable to pick up any points in an 8-3 win over Alabama-Huntsville.
Bryan Rust finished +1 in a 4-1 victory over Minnesota Duluuth.
Alex Velischek finished evens in a 1-1 tie versus Miami.

Keep in mind Teddy only turned 18 in August. He is the youngest player in the WCHA, and the fifth youngest in the entire NCAA. Size and strength will come over time.

Don't look to much into Harrington's game this year... He's been playing with a forward as his partner this year... Harrington has been pulling double duty to cover his butt on most shifts.

Half way thru last night he was paired with Hughes(good free agent signing if anyone wants a solid stay at home mobile D-men) and did a great job on McDavid...

Maatta hasn't been the same Maatta as last year... he become very annoying to watch on the PP... fake shot, head fake, fake shot pass up a good shot is the way it's been with him... alot of standing around as well.

For some reason Dale likes to harness his D-men and not allow them to be offensive when they are. It's really a wasted talent if your not going to use there full abilities... I think Harrington also has some offensive in him but hasnt' been able to show it as Knight.

sigh of relief with harrington but I'm very disappointed to hear that about Maatta. I just hope it doesn't stunt their development...

I've been wanting to create a Poll (for quite a while now) that would list our Top 6 prospet Dmen (or top 8 if you includeStrait & Bortuzzo) and allow people to vote on who Shero will most likely eventally move for help on the wings once the season resumes. I think we can all agree that we have a major log-jam on D and I believe Shero has already been quoted at the draft that they're always in high demand and can be used as trade bait in the future.

Can anybody help me out or better yet, create it?

He's got two goals now. I was getting worried Ruopp was going to outscore him this season.

Watched the London/Erie game. (10/19) Very entertaining game.

McDavid comes as advertised, as his talent is self evident. He definitely deserved the special status to play in the OHL at his young age of 15. If you get a chance to watch him, please do so. Very impressive player. As he displays great skill and hockey sense and does it at a very high rate of speed very comfortably. Has all the makings of a special player. Max Domi was also impressive. Shifty and talented. Very nice goal he scored last night, and looked dangerous on several shifts. Although he appears to like to do everything on his own.

As for the Pen's London dmen, I liked what I saw. I can't speak to any other game than this one, (this season) but both looked very solid in this one. Both Maata and Harrington. Don't like hearing Maata hasn't been great on the PP, but it is early. He didn't have much time on it in this game as London had 2.5 PP's. The first London PP he didn't look good on as it was very ineffective. The 2nd was cut short due with London taking a penalty. Don't even remember the 3rd one tbh. So it must have been forgettable. But at even strength and SH, I thought Maata was good. Not great or particularly impactful, but good. He is how I remembered him. A very smart defensemen with great skating ability. DB is going to love this kid, as he is all about getting the puck in his zone and advancing it out very quickly. Either by deftly carrying it himself out of zone, or quickly executing a head man pass. Very good in transition.

Harrington was his usual solid defensive self. He is so good at using his stick. Seems like he uses his reach as a force field on incoming forwards. Either breaking up the play or forcing the rusher wide to the boards. As mentioned in an earlier post, he played McDavid very hard and very well. Didn't carry the puck much as he often just made the short pass to his D partner or a nearby forward.

Good game to watch. Hope we (in the States) get to see more CHL hockey.
