That would be more like castration than a kick to the junk

Wouldn't that be a kick to the junk!?! I'd agree with you that if there's a lengthy lockout it'd still be worthwhile depending on a persons financial situation to pick it up.
Haha yeah that would suck for sure. I'm actually excited to watch barons hockey now that I confirmed my purchase. Hopefully the game tonight works alright I'll try to give some updates too on the games I can watch, for the people who aren't actually viewing the games.

For sure! I know I appreciate any info I can get, thought I would try to contribute as much as I can.

Are there any specific players that anyone is curious about (besides the obvious J. Schultz) Haha

It looks like Bunz and Roy are splitting duties tonight so we will most likely get to see some of him. I'm also interested in the goalie situation. Big fan of Bunz from watching him play when the tigers were here in town the last couple years.

I caved and ordered the OKC package. Knowing my luck, I've actually just influenced the lockout's end.

Anyone got a list of numbers? The roster page is down.

Just saw Schultz in #5. Roy is starting, btw.

edit, also the audio is totally screwed so I can't hear any commentary.

Switch to the Houston audio feed. It's actually the Barons feed with Jim Byers.

Whoa...I forgot Rajala was out there. Never thought I'd see him again.

The games been pretty choppy, neither team is getting much going.

Its an AHL exhibition game. There are probably about twelve people watching.

Including the crowd, but still, when it comes to the Oilers' (and affiliates) feeds we've been treated fairly well.

They're using the new icing rule where they just whistle it off if its clear the D man will get it. Good stuff.

Schultz had a few decent moments taking the puck in. Teubert and Davidson look good together.

1st over, 0-0, shots 5-5. Pretty lame.

Pelss is 23, Hamilton is 13 (I'll be trying to compile some of the numbers since there appears to be no box score)

Can't wait to hear Doug Sauter tell us how many seconds are left of the game.
That guy doesn't do minutes.
He's always like, "The Barons have 243 seconds left to make something happen".

Arena is just empty, granted it is AHL preseason but entry was free tonight with a donation. Wish there was a bit more support for these guys.

First period just seemed like a feeling out period with no score and the SOG 5-5. Barons are going into the second with some PP time left.

Schultz took a penalty 12 secs in but it was a pretty weak call, just jostling for position. He looked pretty good other than that, couple nice rushes up the ice and crisp passing.

Hartsy was laying the body early as well as a couple other guys. Pelss is just such a hard worker. Roy so far looks quick, good reactions but looks so small in there. Davidson and Teubs look strong out there.

Edit: Numbers are here http://oilers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?...id=DL|EDM|home

These games get announced a week before, so donations or not, not many people are going to come. Most teams have preseason games at a practice rink with 750-1,000 seats, which is smarter than having them at a 13,000 seat arena for these reasons.

Off topic, but I'm going out on a limb and saying Ryan Martindale won't make this club.

Martindale didn't do much in the first but then again, not much happened.

And that makes a bit more sense then. Just seems like there is more support for kids at a minor hockey game then pre season there.
