Either way, still cool. Too bad I am living in this city alone and none of my coworkers enjoy hockey, which is not surprising. It'll still be fun.

And I moved away from Houston early last year so crappy timing for me! Guess where my avatar was taken

For people wondering why so many games with limited teams, as was mentioned they really try to maximize their games played vs. number of trips. Usually two games against the same team back-to-back nights.

I don't know why I didn't think of this. I can't afford Leafs tickets when the Oilers come to town but I can sure afford Marlie tickets!

Edit: Damn, they only play the Marlies twice all season. I hope they meet in the playoffs again.

I'm living in Houston temporarily. For my next work term, I might go to the suburbs of Detroit. It'd be more incentive if I could grab Wings/Oilers tickets next year.

Training camp doesn't technically start until Sunday morning. Though some guys have been in town skating together all week, others are just arriving today and tomorrow, such as Bunz and Davidson.

Haven't heard if RNH or Eberle were amongst the 15 or so skating together.

Eberle was on Gregor's show and for the life of me I can't remember what day he said he was going. Saturday seems to ring a bell, but who knows.

Good interview from what I caught. Eberle said it sucks that he has to go to the AHL because it means no NHL, but he has heard very positive things about going to the AHL and thinks it will be a good time. Said that Whitney told him it was his best year because they had a winning team in 04-05, Eberle thinks they'll have the same.

Yeah but how can playing in a lesser league/tournament actually be good for him. Winning means nothing its about the competition. Doesn't matter if you're getting your ass handed to you every night as long as you're putting up points. Right?

Well in "lesser" leagues players can work on more of their game. Things they want to improve, so in doing that if mistakes are made they will be less costly/noticeable.

The ability for these guys to gain more confidence and improve their games is there, that's why this is a really good fit.

I just bought tickets to the first two home games for the Barons on Oct 19th and 20th. Round trip plane tickets were $500 and game tickets were hella cheap at around $48 for seats behind the players bench.

I'm interested if any other Oilers fans are planning on going down for those games. I thought I'd go down early in case the lockout is short.

Oilers.com to be covering the Barons. That'll be a nice touch for those of us that are planning on keeping tabs on the club. http://video.oilers.nhl.com/videocen...sole?id=186527

Nice. I wonder if its because they'd have to pay the staff for doing nothing all year otherwise...

#okcbarons training camp @coxconvcenter is officially underway.

Jordan Eberle with a superb backhand goal in first round of 3-on-2 drills.

A couple more interviews. These done in a libarary? Seems like the interviewer and the players are trying to keep their voices slightly above a whisper haha.

Nice interviews.

I was wondering if anyone had any insight on the Hall situation, particularly as it relates to him signing an AHL contract. If he does indeed sign this type of agreement, does that mean he is inelligible to play in the NHL if the season is indeed played this year? Or is there an option to buy him out/mutually terminate the contract?

They can rip up the AHL contract. But I am not sure how it works with a player that had an already existing NHL contract.

I know in the past Charles Linglet, the Oil to reward him for a great season down on the farm, late in the season dumped the AHL contract he had and signed him to an NHL deal so he could play some NHL games before the season ended.

Looks like RNH is wearing no.18 (at least, I am assuming based on the interview bottom 3rd).

I think there is a Barons team policy that restricts numbers to <=40.

Pretty dumb policy if you ask me.

Isn't Hartikainen #56, Vandevelde #65 and House #64? I'm sure there's others too.

Those are their NHL numbers. Hartikainen is 35; Vande Velde is 29; House I am not sure. Furthermore: Paajarvi wore 15 instead of his regular 91.
