If the CBA gets done and the season starts on november 2nd

Who might get invited to the training camp (don't forget there is an AHL season going on, so i'm sure not everyone could get an invite and since it's a short camp)

my guess are:

Galchenyuk
Leblanc
Geoffrion
Blunden
Palushaj
St-Denis

who do you think???

Galchenuyk will stay in Junior. I think the Sting would have to release him at this point no?

All those other names will get a shot at camp but will find their ways back to Hamilton.

No, Galchenyuk is allowed to come to camp

Max-Pac
Cole
Desharnais
Gomez
Gionta
Bourque (injured presently)
Eller
Prust
Armstrong
White
Nokelainen
who else is missing???

there will be forward from Hamilton that may start the season in MTL

If Subban is not sign fast, it may give St-Denis some opportunity....

Amongst players in the CHL, only the first rounders are allowed to the camp.

Maybe only four or five guys will be there. Many forwards (due to Bourque missing), but possibly only one D-Men (St-Denis, pretty much the only one who could realistically gain a spot).

I'd like to see what will happen with our players currently playing in Europe.

You are looking at 1 week camp with a new coaching staff that has said it will completely overhaul our system. I can't see more than 5 invitees, if not 3. Training camp will be a crash course, you can't have 30+ players in camp.

Such as? Markov and company have to comeback as soon as a deal is done.

They don't have enough time for try-outs. I'd just let the guys stay in Hamilton, unless they go another week without a game.

Well... only the players that have a shot a making the team will be there -- hence why 2 to 4 forwards. I'm not sure it includes Galchenyuk, but they might want to see him here anyways.

As for players, I remember hearing Yannick Weber saying something to that effect. But that was pretty much the only player I had in mind.

In this proposal, "Entry level would go from 3 to 2 years" per McKenzie's twitter. i guess that helps explain why the rush on signing 3 year ELCs with this year's draft picks before the lockout.

Why would teams agree to this? Top prospects would become more expensive 1 year sooner.

It does seem odd, it would make GM's lives more difficult. Although in the end, it wouldn't cost owners any more, so they could be offering it as a kind of non-concession concession.

True but it's not like they would be going anywhere as RFA's for 8 years. So it's more like the GMs can say "here is Amount X, take it or don't play for the next 5 yrs".

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
Because NHL players buried in minors (Redden etc) would count against cap, re-entry waivers would no longer exist.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
Each club, in any given year, tho, would be subject to a 2 contract and/or $5M limit in terms of retaining salary.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
On trading of cap space/retaining salary, it would be limited to $3M for each contract year left or 50 per cent of AAV, whichever is less
Ok so what does this mean if Gomez is sent down?

I'd also like some more clarity on this. Does it mean that, per year Gomez is in the minors, 5mil would count against the cap, and the remaining 2.357mil would not?

How many more years you stuck with Gomez?

I don't know, but Gomez announcing his retirement in the next few weeks (... if the owner's offer is accepted) would be like, the funniest thing ever.

Ok got the answer now:

Quote:
We are proposing that the salaries of minor league Players on NHL contracts (above a threshold of $105,000) be counted against a Club's Cap. This provision is intended to prevent Clubs from "stashing" or assigning players to the minors (or any other professional league) for "Cap management" purposes. We are not proposing that any salary paid to minor league Players on NHL contracts be counted against the Players' Share.

I don't think it really matters, If AHL contracts count I expect there to be an amnesty buyout clause and guys like Redden and Gomez get bought out with no cap hit.

I just read there is no Amnesty Buyout in the proposal, depending on future negotiations it appears at this point we are stuck with Gomer.

It's kind of weird that it's the NHL owners that are proposing that... Have they talked to their GM's ?

People actually think the players are going to accept this deal?

No chance.

This might be a way of owners slowing down GMs that hand out big contracts and when they fail try to hide them in minors. This has an effect of capping the big long term contracts that can come back to bite you.
