I have a binder full of blinders to anyone that thinks this is a done deal

Turning the proposal to the public? It sounds like amateur hour to me but I haven't read the proposal to figure out the reason to do so. Of course, I don't care about October hockey, and dont really care if a deal gets done right now since we have RGIII.

October hockey is definitely pretty crappy after watching NHL channel repeats of playoff hockey in August. Only counter balanced by hey hockey is back.

Thats true, but I think he'll win, in the sense that he will probably get the owners original proposal modified in the players favor.

Yeah i've almost lost all hope at this point. Tiger Baseball is lasting awhile, so that's a good compensation i guess, but it'll be over really soon...

Hey guys,

Nick Kypreos was talking about Nazem Kadri's long-term future with the Toronto Maple Leafs today on Hockey Central at Noon.

Here is what Nick Kypreos had to say regarding Nazem Kadri's future with the Toronto Maple Leafs:

- Nick Kypreos is hearing that the Washington Capitals offered a 1st round pick and a roster player for Nazem Kadri

- Nazem Kadri will be a RFA once his entry level contract expires in one or two years from now

- Nick Kypreos thinks that Kadri won't re-sign with the Maple Leafs and could make $2 million per year playing in Europe until his entry-level contract expires

- Europe is an option for Kadri if he wants to escape from Toronto

Has Kadri shown any indication that he'll be a legit NHLer? I've only read the occaisional thread or article on the kid...so take it for what little it's worth...but he seems to be a classic not gonna reach his potential guy. I hope he makes it but...

Jeff Schultz is a first round pick and a roster player at that. Looky here you get both for the price of one. Such a deal.

this is not new kadri talk from kypreos. the offer of a 1st round pick is based on mcphee from the trade deadline. mcphee has said that he acquired the additional first round pick with the intent of adding a top 6 forward at the deadline. he said that there was not a deal there to be found.

i further understand that mcphee's initial offer of the 1st was rebuffed by burke which backs up mcphee's statements on the subject. the pick has now been used and i would say the offer of a 1st is no longer valid.

next?

Yeah, I'm glad Burke declined the supposed offer of 1st + Roster Player.

Daly's "back to the drawing board" comments sound pretty bad.

Kinda getting the feel the Fehr might be biting off more than he expected. NHL is a lot different than the other big three sports.

NHL ownership seems to be more unified and the only other player vs owner situation was in the NFL in the 80s where the players eventually caved (though they striked I believe).

And since then the owners win of getting a salary caps was pretty much the most decisive 'get' in labor negotiations compared to the other three pro sports.

Theoretically, one ball gives Caps roughly a 2% chance to get the first overall. Well, we would have the same probability of winning as Pens or Oilers
