I just don't know that it's entirely possible to prove the bottom line like he wants to do, and win a championship.

We had that opportunity when everyone was cheap. But then they choked.

you are being oftely selective. i recall much of this forum thought the caps would miss the last playoffs. i recall much of this forum said they should sell off at the trade deadline. that they would miss and that if by some miracle they made it that they would immediately be dispatched forthwith.

i said otherwise and i am the constant of doom and gloom? you think my doom is misplaced in the work stoppage or are you just taking an easy potshot?

NHL went from $180 mil (1st proposal) to $200 mil in rev. sharing. NHLPA went from $240 mil to $260 mil.
Seriously, **** the NHLPA.

Still on, huh? Depressingly, the Ovechkin news probably doesn't matter a damn.

Looks like I might get the chance to check out the Winterhawks in a week or two. Pacific NW camping trip.

holding on to the belief. nice way to coin a phrase....or nice way to spin that. i am not holding on to anything. among those things i am not holding onto is my breath that there will be nhl hockey this season.

ive said it before and it bares repeating here. if its on, i will watch it. if its not, i have other things to do.

what i see right now is the last serious shot at saving the season. i have no feeling for its chances for success.

TX I agree but I'll have to one-up you here....Not only do I think there will be no season THIS year but I believe there won't be a season next year either.

I really don't think people understand just what Donald Fehr is about and the message the players sent by hiring him.

This is going to be ugly. Thats my opinion and I'm sticking with it.

They're not far enough apart for me to believe they'll lose 2 seasons.

I don't know if it will be this weekend, but I think they'll hammer out a deal. This is what it looks like during real negotiations. Meeting day after day, with actual discussions taking place. Sure, there's still some PR posturing happening, but it seems like more of "playing poker" than actually trying to manipulate the masses. They're just using the media to try and see if they can get the other side to blink first. This doesn't smell like a prolonged stalemate to me.

Hope you guys are right. I don't see it however. Donald Fehr ...thats all I have to say.

Alex Ovechkin: Earlier, after the season I came to Moscow, met my friends, we hang out, had a good time, drank sometimes. There was no such stuff this time. I had a clear plan. Since Maria [Kirilenko] played at the London Olympics and prepared for them accordingly, I supported her the whole way. It helped me to stay in shape. Itís safe to say that I had a workout regimen all summer long.
I seem to remember someone calling me an idiot for suggesting this was going to happen.

@NYP_Brooksie: Told that PA proposed that players get last year's share plus 5 pct this yr regardless of schedule length/actual revenue...

@NYP_Brooksie: Last year's share was 1.883B...plus 5 pct would be $1.977B...would likely eat 65-67 pct of revenue in 66-68 game season.

Leonsis, Leipold & Jacobs were at the second meeting this evening.

I don't know why do you follow me all over every board? Seems like no matter what sport I'm saying someone dived in, there is Brad Tolliver. Do you get a text message when I do it or something?

Seriously freaks me out when its 4 am and its Olympic field hockey and Brad Tolliver shows up to say something stupid about me saying someone dived in a field hockey game.

Though my favorite was when you were criticizing me for calling out bad calls against the Broncos.

The owners could always view it as a good will gesture and signing bonus for this year? Then go directly to 50/50 next year.

It's still early in the season. I'd like it not to be a lost year on the history books.

C'est la vie.
