I don't know why this would have anything to do with the CBA, but apparently there is leak about the possibility of 10 teams per conference making the playoffs.

Well hopefully if they do this these are 1 game play in games between the 7/10 and 8/9 seeds to see who gets in the 'real' playoffs kind of like what MLB did.
Sitting around and waiting for a 5 or even 3 game series between those teams to play out would be too much of a layoff IMO.
Not even really sure how a 10 team playoff would work.
It would have to simply add a couple play in games in each conference between the 7/10 and 8/9 seeds to see who gets to play the 1 and 2 seeds in the real playoffs IMO. That is kind of like what MLB did this year.
You realize that not too long ago 16 of the 21 teams made the playoffs right?
1979 was a long time ago....

6 - Number of playoff series the Capitals have won since George McPhee took over as General Manager in 1997 (which makes him the third-longest-tenured GM in the League), three of which came in McPhee's first season on the job.

Yeah. Makes the battle for seeding even more important at the end of the season, which isn't a bad thing IMO. Don't know if it'd end up being good on the whole, but it's not as crazy as it might sound at first.

Which is unacceptable, I think it should be a 7 game series, so the 12 other teams could be waiting 3 weeks to play.
"A neck Bruise" ? never heard of that before. Must have lost something in the translation. It's hard to see from that angle. He popped up pretty quick. Maybe he needs a chiropractic adjustment?
nah...i doubt its a concussion. that clearly looks like a neck injury the way his head was bent backwards. you can see in the photo on the one link the ice being applied to his neck.
the week to week recovery means that he is hurt and not dinged.
edit: it was the bottom of his helmet in the back bashing his neck when his head was bent back.
isnt it true that a deal has been in the works to one extent or another all along? a deal in the works=negotiations?
I agree with your usage.
His, however, means that they're on the verge. If he's correct, some impasse holding them apart has been resolved, and there are just a few details left to iron out.
He has been right on at times, and incorrect others. Example, this was how I knew Jagr had been traded, and I announced it first thing in the morning the next day after the team had had dinner together.
He was incorrect once when he told me that the Caps would lose a case they were appealing.
I give this one some weight because there's quite a bit of money they all stand to lose if it isn't resolved until next season. Even if they resolve it, they've lost quite a bit already, but even a 40 some game schedule and the SCP's would really compound the loss, so I think he may pull the rabbit out this time.
