No wonder Turris left because of "personal reasons."

Welcome to Northern Finland where you have nothing to do and to a club that is the farthest away from everything and has the longest travel times by far of all the clubs in the FEL. A club in Helsinki area could've been better (Jokerit, HIFK, Blues), there's something to do in Helsinki and the traveling ain't that bad.

An interesting article this too. Some pointers. Movies are not dubbed, they're subtitled so if it's not a children's movie, all new Hollywood movies are in English. And nearly all adult Finns (except for elderly people) understand and speak English. And there's more than ABC truck stop awfulness and pizzerias but maybe not in Oulu.

It seems the Kärpät team mates didn't interact with Turris much?

But compared to NHL, you can't expect that level of treatment from the clubs (KHL and the Swiss League are maybe the exceptions) in the FEL when the whole League's budget is about the same as one average NHL team's budget.

Seems Turris is upset about that article and his response will appear on the Kärpät website soon.

He did not say anything bad about the people, the team or the country and considering the reaction the article seems to have gotten it's the right thing to do: he was honest about his experience but didn't trash talk anything or anyone.

Even fans of NHL teams take exception to anything negative said about their city like Emery on Buffalo, Edmonton fans, etc.

Turris's reply on the Kärpät website: http://www.oulunkarpat.fi/uutiset/ar...ia-koskee.html

Quote:
To Whom It May Concern,
I read an article in the Globe and Mail today regarding my experience in Oulu. It made me extremely upset that it was so negative, and that it had very inaccurate and untrue information. I really enjoyed my time in Oulu, and those who are around me know that. I want to make clear that the sole reason I left is because of personal reasons that required me to be home with my family. The entire Oulu organization treated me very well, and I feel terrible that people may now feel that I was not grateful to be a part of the organization. I know that I was very lucky to play for such an awesome organization that welcomed me with open arms and treated us very well. Everyone I met in Finland, the coaches, management, fans and people of Oulu were all very nice and made my time there a memorable one. I was also lucky to have great teammates, with whom I have made good friendships. For all this I am very thankful and wish the Karpat organization great success in the future.
Sincerely,
Kyle

Jokerit played yesterday winning Lukko 0 - 2. Karlsson suffered his suspension in that game. Today Karlsson was back on the ice with an ok effort.

DEC 19, 2012: BLUES @ JOKERIT 0 - 4
G 0, A 3, P 3, +/- +1, S 6, PIM 0, TOI 25:50

Karlsson after 28 games: G 7, A 20, P 27, +/- +10, S 217, PIM 24, average TOI 25:09.

Highlights: http://www.nelonenpro.fi/videot/media/496855

Steve Moses scored a hat trick today and Erik assisted all his goals. First assist @ 0:42, a brilliant blind-side pass, second assist @ 1:23 and third assist @ 1:48.

Jesse Winchester returned back to Canada yesterday. If lockout continues, TuTo Hockey is in contact with him after the holidays.

Tweet by Jesse: "Thank you to the entire TUTO Hockey family for making our time together so enjoyable!"

I don't know how they count shots in the NHL but in the FEL all shots towards the goal, whether they miss the goal or are blocked by players are counted as shots.

Is that after a game? I'm going to the game saturday with my Spezza jersey, that would be sick if I could get it signed

No that's not after a game. But after a game it should be quite easy to get it signed!
Wait outside, near the backdoor of the stadium (Sector C), between the Bar and the small Gym-Building, that's where the players always leave the building, the Bus of the visitors team will also be there, easy to find. If you keep your eyes open, you should catch him there.
Are you Swiss, or are you on holidays?

This changes everything.

There were times last year were Karlsson directed over 20 shots to the goal, whether blocked or missed. I was wondering how he could be shooting so much on goal and not be well over a PPG.
