You know who could help the Canucks roster? Alex Edler.

And before you say we could get a #1 d-man in Phaneuf, keep in mind that Edler is a better player and much cheaper than Phaneuf.

Thought this may be important when it comes to Edler & resigning him.
I hope to God he doesn't become the next Willie Mitchell.

Maybe why we won't see 2010 Kings series Edler ever again. Still a damn good player and has chemistry with the Sedins.

I'm sorry, why do we do this?

We do this because giving away star players is the "in" thing apparently. Who knows, maybe including Edler will be enough to pry away BOTH Bozak and a 2nd round pick.

That's garbage. I'd do it if they included Lombardi and Komisarek.

Someone hasn't paid attention to Leaf fans...they can't afford to be taking away from their current defense, and Luongo has a bad contract. No way do we get a big rugged defenseman and a speedy 3rd like center for that.

Crap.
Then I guess we waive Luongo and hope he gets claimed. If not, he plays the rest of his career as an AHL backup goalie.

And because Schneider is unproven and young and not that good he'll end up choking too. We might as well just forfeit the season.

We should trade Edler for a good starting goalie.

Boy would I love to get someone as good as James Reimer. Had a great rookie season and would have been great last year if it weren't for that concussion. He'd cost too much for us to acquire though. Maybe Scrivens?

Nah, I think we should get a superstar goalie, preferably Ryan Miller or Cam Ward. They've been top 3 goalies since the last lockout.

I have my eyes on Jussi Rynnas. So good, right out of Finland played TWO NHL games with the Leafs last season, he has to be good. Sporting a .950 SV% in the AHL this season, which is better than Luongo's .913 SV% in the 2009-10 NHL season. Move aside, Luo our new goalie of the future is waiting for us!

Lol, **** that guy in NHL 13. I remember playing a game against the Leafs in my BAGM file. Ladd shoots, Rynnas gives huge rebound and falls on the ice, Kane picks up loose puck and one-times it towards the top left corner. Mother****er makes a stick save while sitting in the middle of the crease. Unfair

won't help. we'd have to pay luongo's cap hit and a new backup's cap hit.

Sounds like real-life Rynnas.

Edler has the physical skills to be a #1 defense-man, but appears (too often) to be dim-witted. Furthermore, he is a free-agent at this season's end. The Canucks "do this" because it's both a good hockey move, and it's a good economic move.

This proposal it's based on the fact that can't resign Edler and the Leafs can't resign Lupul.

Luongo and Edler for Lupul, Gardiner, Bozak and a first.

My first attempt at a proposal so flame away.

That's literally the worst trade I've ever seen. I'd eat my own **** if that went down.

Without Edler, we might as well kiss goodbye to our powerplay and dominant first line.

If that first is a top 5 pick then maybe?

It's actually not bad, I just have a big pet peeve when people say first proposal, flame away.
