Oh, I assumed Andesen was still under contract. Silly mistake.

Yeah, I'm assuming Fasth and Andersen will split starts? Two of the top SEL netminders.

Rick Nash has a hat-trick after the 1st Period in Davos´ match in the Swiss league. One shortie.

All three goals assisted by Thornton by the way.

Game stats can be seen here: http://www.nationalleague.ch/NL/spie...20131105071020

Anyone know if there's a live stream of the Davos game?

Oh man, this could become absolutely ridiculous

Nash with 3 goals, 1assist and Thornton with 4 assists after 2 periods. I never realised that our league is that bad
I will post the highlight video after the game for you guys.

That's just not fair.

Unless you have a residence in Switzerland, there are sadly no streams you could watch.

The game is over for a while now, still no videos available.

Neither Nash nor Thornton were able to add a point, but either 4 points is by far more than the production that was expected.

They finally uploaded a video. Commentary is in german.

Link

Highlights starting after 2 minutes.

Fun fact:
In the interview ~1:15 the coach of HC Davos, Arno del Curto, says, that he expects Nash and Thornton to need around 2-3 weeks to acclimate.

I'm not expecting too much from this site (Swisscom...), but it's worth a try.

Does this one work?

If not, you can try to use a swiss proxy

Lundqvist should rest up all he can before the season starts.

Him going back to Sweden and playing in a scrub league isn't going to do anything other than put him at risk for injury.

He's an elite hockey player. He's not going to forget how to play the sport all of the sudden if he takes a few months off. Same with Nash.

The SEL is far from a scrub league.

Frölunda could really need Lundqvist just to get the fans back. They have lost something like 1/3 of the crowd over the last two seasons. Having Henrik&Karlsson back would "guarantee" full house every night.

As elite hockey players, I trust that they know more about what it takes to remain an elite hockey player than we do. If they think playing is best for them, it probably is.

This is just a horribly ignorant statement. At worst the SEL is the world's 3rd best hockey league. Many would argue it is #2.

The snobbery going on in here is almost intolerable. 90% of people bashing the European leagues have never even watched a handful of their games.

Quoted for truth. Many people don't realize how big hockey can be in Sweden. When Sweden played in the gold metal game in the Olympics, almost every TV in Sweden was registered as having watched some part of the game. When Sweden was in the finals of the World Championship a couple of years ago over 2.8 million people watched it. Not bad for a country with about 9.4 million people. Imagine the headlines of that many people in the NYC area watched a Ranger game.

And guess who is one of the biggest stars in Sweden. Yep, Henke. He's a sports star rolled up in a rock star package. I don't think he really has any choice.
