ugh...
looks like Nash got hurt (shoulder) in the 1st period tonight.
nothing confirmed, but the liveticker here in switzerland says that he didn't return for the 2nd period after a check from former Blueshirt Ilkka Heikkinen.

Not good for the Rangers since we're a grinding team.

I am going to be beyond irate if Nash has a serious injury. Unfortunately, it wouldn't surprise me in the least considering the luck of this team.

"Nash fell out after nine minutes, the Canadians left the ice after a collision with Heikkinen pretty "groggy"."

If it's a concussion...just...wow.

Bad luck Brian meme is way too applicable. Just typical Rangers.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger
Rick Nash injured his shoulder in Swiss game. His agent, Joe Resnick says he was taken out of game and will be re-evaluated in a cpl days

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger
Resnick stressed, Nash's injury is shoulder and not head as some have speculated. Taken out of game for precautionary reasons.

figured i'd put it in both threads. probably could have it's own though

Well shoulder is better than concussion.

I guess we will see...he's got at the bare minimum all of October to heal up at this point.

Glad it's not a concussion; not a Rangers fan but I wouldn't like to see that happen to any of the league's good players while overseas. I have a bad feeling a lot of these NHL guys are going to get run in these lesser leagues by guys "trying to make a statement". This BS lockout needs to end.

For some reason I just cant really forget about last years game.... where you guys lost against a "clown league team" pretty badly....

Nash wont be "injuried" for long. Just heard the latest press release on the radio....he wont play for a week until he returns to to "clown league's" ice...

Euro fan can hang on pre-season wins all they like, it doesn't make the league any better than it is.

They basically won a friendly against NYR. Who cares? The league Nash is playing in is nowhere near NHL level. I'd rather him not play at all, but his choice.

We are not turning this back into an NHL vs European leagues debate. This thread is for monitoring our players overseas.

Anyone that continues on with that debate will be removed from the thread.

Sorry, but its pretty absurd to see people suggest that the skill level between the leagues is even close.

I don't care. It's off topic and causes a **** storm.

Everyone drops it or they won't get to participate in the conversation. End of story.

According to a report, Frolunda now has got the money to pay for Lundqvist's insurance. They're waiting for him to consult with the Rangers on the matter.

The Rangers are not allowed to consult with any players during the lockout. Lundqvist will have to make his own decision.

Perhaps they mean that Lundqvist is trying to decide what would be best for the Rangers.

Have the full report now. The article implies that the Rangers perhaps don't want him to get hurt like Nash did.

I know how badly Frolunda fans would like to see him back, and after all he has given this franchise I don't think we have the right to deny him an opportunity to go back.

But Nash may have spooked the FO.

Want one of McDonagh/Staal/Girardi/Stralman/Del Zotto to join Frolunda as well.

I'm sure that's an issue in Lundqvist's mind--he's been very clear that his first concern is to be ready, willing and able to play for the Rangers when the season (finally) starts. But, he's also indicated that to be completely ready he is best off playing in game situations. And, of course, there is the pull to play for the home team again!

It's a hard choice--he could stay in the USA to avoid being injured and then, when the season starts after a very short training camp get hurt in the first week of the season because he's not in mid-season form. Or he can go to Sweden to play and get into game shape and be hurt there. Or not get hurt, have fun, hang out with family and come back when the NHL season finally starts ready to lead the Rangers to the promised land.

Here's what Sather said to the media after Nash's injury:

Quote:
Despite Nashs scare an MRI revealed no structural damage Rangers general manager Glen Sather said he was not particularly worried about such a scenario.

"Its no different playing over there than playing here because here you can get hurt playing in the American League (AHL) or you can get hurt playing junior," Sather said. "I dont think its a huge risk for anyone to play (emphasis added).

"[Nash] knew where he was going, hed been there before [during the 2004-05 lockout] so Im sure he knows their medical people are good," Sather added. "Im sure theyre giving him all the treatment that he needs."
