SKA just scored 4 goals in 3 minutes. Awful goaltending. Surprisingly, Kovalchuk was involved in none of the goals.

It could be there game plan. With the bigger surface it creates a LOT of 2 on 1s or 3 on 2s, it's not a terrible idea really.

Now it's 4-2. Another weak goal.

Maybe if you're actually trying, but Kovy isn't giving much of an effort

The forwards are really skilled at the KHL level and easily can match the NHL level in terms of skill. The defense/goaltending is quite poor though so along with the big ice it makes the play look sloppier than NHL play.

I think I'd support the idea of a bigger ice sheet for the NHL if that ever came up as a legitimate idea. I don't think they'd want to commit that change to the arenas in terms of seats/boards/etc.

I think increasing the rink size makes sense anyway, given how much bigger and fast players have gotten over the last 20-30 years.

It'd be interesting to see NHL level skill at all positions play on big ice.

Kovy got robbed on a 1 timer from the slot

after a turnover, Kovy with great hustle to negate a 2 on 1 and make it a 2 on 2

I think these KHL games show the upsides, but the problem is a complete change of the entire ecosystem of hockey in North America... There's literarally thousands of rinks that would instantly feel the requirement to change. That's a big burden.

About the only save that guy made all game

KHL is interesting to watch, but no doubt the D and goaltenders are below NHL standards (from the few games I've watched so far). Though the D actually looked good early...

I think that and the loss of a fwe hundred seats are the only reasons they have not yet.

If nothing else big ice would eliminate useless players like Janssen or Rinaldo.

Traditional NA style of play has a lot to do with it too.

Anyway, it`s strange to see you guys support the idea. We, Europeans, became fans of the NHL because of it (smaller rink).

As would dropping the roster sizes down to 15 skaters. Neither are likely to happen.

Sounds like he's been very unselfish and has been good at setting players up. Kinda like we've seen over here with the Volchenkov break against the Flyers!

It looks like he only got a little better than 18 minutes ice time. He probably would have scored a goal had he played 24!

For those that have been watching... how has Kovy looked physically? Does he look 100%? Is he loafing it coming back on D?
