Is this Kovy's first game winner there? SKA wins 2-0. 18 save shutout for their goaltender. I think he got the game winner in the hat trick game against Bryz?

Another game, another SKA win with Kovy in the lineup.

If we trade our whole team to the SKA in the KHL, for all their guys, and keep Kovy can we make the playoffs?

With Parise gone, there's no reason to keep Kovy at RW unless he wants to play there.

I know that's stupid. Almost as bad as Kovy having to be on the point on the PP which definitely won't change regardless. He was kept on the right still during times he was split with Parise though wasn't he? Maybe that's cause they didn't want him to switch it up during the playoffs that late in a season.

Kovalchuk is as effective as he is right now, not because of his teammates. But because he is not shackled down by the Devils defense-first system. He's free to work his offensive mastery with SKA.

I was just kidding, but about the Devils defense first system. I don't think we have a defense first system anymore!

Kovy looks better in the khl because the competition is lower than the NHL, Tarasenko is awesome, and he's not exerting nearly as much energy defensively as he does with NJ. It has nothing to do with the actual system being played IMO.

I also think the larger ice surface benefits his play style a lot

Being captain of SKA, I don't think he would want to abandon his teammates midseason to return to NHL should the lockout end in the near future.

I'm not worried about Kovy holding out.
He's actually one of the few not grandstanding about staying out there.

On a secondary note... SKA has only 1 shootout loss since Kovy joined the team. That's madness.

theres not a single chance he holds out. i was just saying what ska did was a smart move. though it wont sway his choice....or void a billion year contract. so theyre beat.

I'm on board with that.
SKA is selling it hard trying to keep their claws in him, but I don't see it working.

Don't we all?
Start praying for those 2 year ELCs and a Tarasenko holdout with the Blues.
AKA a miracle 2 years (or 3 depending on how this ********* goes) in the making.

Basically their top line + their goalie all bail out when the NHL starts back up.

Although Bobo indicated he'd go to the KHL this season anyway, right after he was traded to the Blue Jackets. They might be able to keep him.

No russian stars are going to stay in Russia it's just more posturing with the CBA talks going on.

The KHL is doing all they can to establish a working relationship with the NHL they won't go back on the agreement the 2 leagues came up with this summer, not to poach players.

I literally have absolutely no worries about Kovy staying in Russia. I think he has a strong connection to the Devils and is committed to playing out as much of his contract as possible.
