That's the team Uncle Slava runs too, right? He took Pikkarainen off our hands for us when Lou wanted to get rid of him, among other favours.

Thank god for that he was ****in abysmal. His only goal he scored was on Carey Price, and I'm pretty sure Price dropped it out of his glove, and pushed it in with his skate. I'm glad Lou has found a way to weed out dead weight. Pelley was ****in horrible too I'm glad he's gone too.

Didn't Sergei Nemchinov coach a team over there?

I still need to find out more of the back story to this. I've only heard pieces about this Andrew Peters card. Someone want to fill me in?

PL3 got an assist in his first ever game against Dallas. It was Avery's first game against the Devils after that horrible first round in 08 too. Pretty sure Marty almost hit Avery in the head with a puck that game too.

I think it was a random game played in the locker room with Clarkson or maybe Parise or something. Where they would hide a card of Andrew Peters or something. I heard it during some radio interview with Peters going on at the time of the SCF.

yup

http://thehockeywriters.com/martin-b...avid-clarkson/

Peters explained how the tradition got started with the Devils:

ďI was so excited to have a bunch of my cards one day when I was with the Devils but I left a stack of them on the dashboard or Martyís car. The next day he and David Clarkson started the tradition of hiding one of my rookie cards in the others equipment to see who would come across it first. With the Devils travelling to New York to start the Eastern Conference finals vs. the rival New York Rangers the ever clever Brodeur had one of Petersí cards sent to Clarkson at the team hotel via Federal Express requiring Clarkson (to wake up early) to sign for the package thus ensuring that Marty won this round of the tradition.

ďHopefully my card can get itís picture with the Stanley Cup this year, come to think of it maybe I should ask Lou (Lamoriello) for a ring if the Devils win it all. I think my hockey card even made it to the Olympics but itís a pretty good joke, thatís good to hear that I havenít been forgotten.Ē

That sounds more like it. Peters talked a lot about Parise in that interview, and that's what made me put his name in there with the card pranks.

He said on that radio interview that Marty's brother helped Peters get into Marty's car

The FedEx one was hilarious.
That brought some necessary laughter to an overall stressful series.

I remember it as a puck that hit the back of Price's helmet and went in...it was something bizarre like that or what you said

EDIT: Damn, your memory's uncanny (whatever did people do before Google and Internet recaps? lol):

Quote:
Price looked a lot worse on right wing Ilkka Pikkarainen’s first NHL goal, which tied the game with 3:35 left in the second period.

After taking a feed from Dean McAmmond on a 3-on-2 rush, Pikkarainen let go a wrist shot from the top of the right circle that would have gone a few feet over the net. Price reached up to catch it, however, and it deflected down off his glove; it hit the left post and went in off the back of Price’s right skate.

Yeah I can remember things from years ago, but I didn't remember the full story on the Andrew Peters card thing.

I remember that goal from Pikkawhatever, and I remember Leblond having a really good game once. I know a good game for a guy like him rarely happens twice in a row, but I remember him being scratched in favor for Pikkadude, and I was pissed because Pikkaguy was like really terrible, and Lou built up a lot of hype when he signed with us by saying ''A mystery player will be signed tomorrow!'' What a tease.

I remember we were in the very early stages of the Kovalchuk sweepstakes at the time Pikkarainen was waived. A few people joked around that Pikkachu was waived so that #17 would be available when we finally acquired him, complete with the sarcasm smiley. But no one thought we had a serious chance of landing Kovy at the time and that it was just rumor mongering. So we laughed about how Pikks was waived to free up a roster spot and number for Kovy, and continued speculating about how we would acquire Eric Belanger and Joe Corvo at the deadline that year.

And then the Kovy trade actually happened and this entire board **** their pants at the same exact second. Good times.

I thought the mystery player was gonna be Petr Sykora because I think he was a UFA that year. Then I read it was a player from Europe who had been playing there so that ruled Sykie out.

Though he was #17 He wasn't the old 17 Sykie.

No. Malkin is on the Metallurg Magnitogorsk. I hope I got that spelling right. That's the team Paul Maurice just got that coaching position with.
