Could This Be the Leafs Best Chance For A Cup Since 67'?
Bill Waters was on the radio claiming NHL owners will not cancel the season, and have a plan to use replacement players if no deal is done by Christmas.
With the Leafs money, they could get a really great replacement team.
Replacement players would only invite another League to start up and then the owners would be screwed two ways....no fans watching B grade players, and the new League gets the best players and the NHL is no more.
Who would the replacement players even be (assuming this happens which I doubt)? The AHL players? Players from overseas? Junior hockey players? Players who just play shinny? Owners would probably lose more money from having to pay these players while still getting no revenue from fans which is what they are already getting now.
Regardless of who the players would be it wouldn't be nearly as exciting and I would probably just end up watching the Marlies/Knights instead anyways.

how the league would market the ECHL as the NHL is beyond me
I remember reading somewhere that the Cup is actually not owned by the NHL so keeping that in mind, why don't the Leafs just borrow the cup and set it up as the trophy awarded for a charity Leaf alumni game or something. They can do blue vs. white or something. Either way, the cup would have the TML scribbled in as the 2012 or 2013 CHAMPS! We can buy our way into the history books!

If that only was true...
One of the richest franchises in the league but also one with the worst team(s).
What station was this on? Did he get ripped for being a moron and not understanding that this is a lockout and not a strike? Seems like it would have been a great opportunity to call him on making up BS.

With it being a lockout, can the League legally bring in replacement players?
