All Stars That Didn't Make the All Stars - don't have to be snubs

I always hate doing snub lists so figured I would do it slightly differently. Choose a player on your team (a as in one) who did not make the AHL All Stars but has been a star for the club for the first half of the year.

For Hartford, I would say Bryce Lampman. I don't think he played good enough to be a league all star but I think he was one of Hartford's best players. He lit up the score board early in the year and has played solid defense all around. He's one of those guys who you don't notice on the ice simply because they are always doing their job so wel.

Without a doubt, David LeNeveu for Utah.

I'm not saying that the Canadian netminders that did make it weren't worthy, however, if every team must have one representative, LeNeveu is the only member of the Grizzlies that played well. The numbers that he has put up do not reflect how well he has played this season.

David Ling, for my team, but Hannu Toivonen is the player I believe has been snubbed the most.

Rene Bourque should have made the team over Anton Babchuk.

SS,

I do agree that Toivonen was snubbed the most. Unfortunately, Lehtonen took his spot. Tough to argue with Niittymaki (1.96, .923). On the other hand (I'm sure this comment is going to annoy a certain sabrefan), Toivonen's numbers are slightly better than Ryan Miller's (2.07, .932, vs 2.14, .931) while playing for a worse team.

As for Ling, unfortunately, he is a victim of the fact that the powers that be want the AHL All-Star game to be a place to showcase the top prospects and not AHL veterans, with the exception of the two captains.

For Milwaukee, the guy most deserving that didn't make it would undoubtably be Wyatt Smith(15g,18a,33pts). Not saying he should have made the Planet team, but he's a guy often overlooked. Shishkanov is good enough to make the team, but honestly hasn't deserved it based on first half inconsistencies and injuries. While Ryan Suter simply doesn't have the experience yet to be named, but will have come next year (if he's still in the AHL).

Alex Auld. I wouldn't say he was snubbed, though he has been playing amazing. Just not quite as good as Garon, LaBarbera, and MacDonald.

Ryan Craig for Springfield. He has already quadrupled his goal production from his rookie season with 18 goals in 43 games played this season. Ryan Craig is definitely more deserving than Craig Darby, who is the captain of the PlanetUSA All-Star team and Springfield's lone representative at the game.

Problem is there is only three goaltenders, so choosing goaltenders is always hard and difficult because you're going to 'snub' at least a few.

For the Houston Aeros, Brent Burns. This guy has been peppering the opposing goaltenders but his point numbers don't reflect this because we don't have a big body that crashes the net. His +/- is slightly weak but he's relearning a position that he hasn't played in a few years. He has good size too. I wish I could see what he could be like if we actually had someone crashing the net.

I agree, had he played the entire season like he's played post-Spengler I could see him sneaking into the All-star game, but he's only really been outstanding the last 15 or so games. Still turning out to be a great goalie though.

Yann Danis, I wouldn't say was snubbed, as his numbers aren't near the top, but to me he's easily been one of Hamilton's best players. Although the long schedule might be getting to him, as he's had 2 rough starts of late. For a rookie he's been very solid most nights.

Corey Locke I wouldn't say got snubbed either, but he's having an impressive season, 2nd on Hamilton in scoring for the rookie, despite at times playing on the 4th line with Ivanans and Carpentier.

Steve Ott has been on fire over the last month or so, but really struggled early on, so I can see why he didn't make it.

For the P-Bruins, most DEFINITELY Hannu Toivonen.

David Ling really stands out. The guy's 5th in league scoring with 53 points.

I realize it's a numbers game because every team has to be represented. However, I think it's stupid that Milwaukee has 4 players going to the game, but they couldn't find room for Ling. Doesn't make sense.

i'll agree with a poster from page 1- ling doesn't make the team because, well, ling is a scrub when all is said and done. he's a very good player on the AHL level, but hey, jay bouwmeester made the team and by all accounts, he's been mediocre this year. the AHL all-star game is a showcase for good young talent- while the league will never admit that, it's just the way it is. if not, maybe ling makes it over wellwood. i'd even argue that labarbera is in a similar position, and i wouldn't have been surprised if he didn't make it either. i would've taken lenevue myself.

Not that I'm one to complain, as a Monarchs fan, but two that have played really well for us, as well, are Gleason and Hauser.

He's been playing like an allstar since he returned from the Spengler Cup. If he'd been playing like that all season, he'd have made it for sure.

As a flyer fan I would have to say Dennis Sedinberg and RJ Umberger should have been named.

Cincy- Michael Holmqvist, should have made Planet-USA.

His stats aren't amazing, but he has been Cincy's most consistent forward all year and does all the little things it takes to win.

I'm just disapointed that after really turning their season around and getting back to .500 only one Duck is going to the All Star Game.
