Again though we NEED to get rid of a D man, or one has to be on LTIR just to open up 2 more forward spots not including Harrold as a forward, but as a defenseman. Larsson is the only D on a two way deal. Janssen probably has a smaller chance of seeing the AHL than even Larsson does. Everyone else is on one way contracts including Harrold, aside from Yayo, and Henrique.

Wouldn't have minded Semin here on a one year deal, but I wouldn't want to pay him nearly 8 mil for an experiment.

I think Carolina only had to pay $7? I wouldn't have cared since we have the cap space. Only next Summer we'd have to figure out who we wanted back. Do we want Zajac, Clarkson, and Elias all back? Or do we wanna give Semin a multi year? With the way Uncle Lou operates with UFA's we just might head into one big mess next July 1st, that's even more stressful than this last one.

I thought it was 7.5 but I could be wrong.

It's just too much of a risk especially given the uncertainty of the CBA. Will contracts roll back? Will the cap go down? Will Semin play defense?

Really wouldn't want Semin on a multi-year deal either given his rep.

Pretty much the only way I'd be satisfied with him on the deal is for one year, 5 mil or so, and he wouldn't take that.

Capgeek says $7 million, but it's not too far off. No difference really I guess. Yeah I'm worried about the CBA, and the cap going down too. That's why I'd take him at ONE year, but not more. I think we need to re sign Clarkson, and Zajac they're priority. Elias will stay I think for a fair price like $4.5 million for however many years he chooses probably 3 years max if that.

I just hope we don't have to overpay Zubrus, and give him the big contract like Salvador. I'm afraid of that happening. I wanna keep him, but not for what he's making on this last contract. It smells like Pandolfo, and White all over again if he gets that.

Raymond isn't bad, but I think we can get more for Tallinder too.

Would it be possible to give up Tallinder without having to get another defenseman in return? And giving him up without giving up a forward as well if that's what we're getting in return? I wouldn't mind throwing in a defensive prospect like Urbom, but we need all of our forwards now.

Raymond is a forward. Moving Tallinder for a D-man or including a forward in a package would be a lateral move at best, so I doubt it would happen.

Unless we do something like Tallinder and Forward X in exchange for Forward Y, where Y is a better player than X. I don't think something like that would happen either, though.

Best bet is a D-man for a forward straight up. Maybe a pick or prospect from either side to balance it.

The thing that worries me about Hemsky is he's got a few years left, and I'd hope we can keep Zajac/Clarkson. Though when this BS is finally resolved we'll know what the salary cap is, but he can replace Parise or close to it. If he's a 25 goal scorer/60 point guy, and a few other guys like Josefson, and Tedenby or Butler can find a scoring touch then we're even better off.

One good thing about Hemsky having a few more years though is that if Trav decides to ''Test the market'' and go somewhere else, well we have Hemsky still here, and can look for other options.

The Oilers will also ask a lot in return for Hemsky. Might not be worth it at the price they'd extract from us.

This. We would probably have to add significantly to Tallinder (since he would be a fringe 6th defenseman on the Oilers ), and I'd rather invest in a "safer" winger anyway.

I'm tempted to fix that to say "Hemsky would be great if he wasn't made of Paul Martin" but that's too easy.

That definitely came to mind. He said it right after they were talking about how Clarkson was one of only 3 players in the league to score 30 goals, and get over 100 penalty minutes. If Heatley didn't get 100 penalty minutes last year, then it must have been a jab at Parise. Or just coindentally, and completely random.

Doubtful to say the least. Everybody knows about Heatley`s struggles.

I didn`t expect him to give them that kind of an answer, but I wouldn`t read too much into it either.

Ya, I don't think it's a coincidence that his mind immediately jumped to a teammate of Parise's in Minnesota. There are any number of "skill players" that Clarkson outscored last season.

So i just did some goal-horn analysis (bored as ****) and I found that of our winning OT goals last year

Ponikarovsky - 26s
Henrique - 25s
Zajac - 21s

I am surprised by my findings. I don't remember the horn after Henrique scored in real life...oh what a night

Anyway, no other place to put this ridiculous tidbit of information so here you go. you're all a bit more knowing know
