Brad Malone

If there is an nhl season where do u see him fitting in this season.
Do u see him ever being a solid bottom six fwd in nhl in the future?
Any thoughts would be great.

He'd be a 4th liner at NHL level to begin, and unfortunately, I see Avs considering Mcleod, Mitchell, Kobasew and Olver in front of him in the pecking order.

I see him therefore as an AHL'er for a few years yet. I also think Heard will also jump ahead of him in a year or two.

Personally, I love Malone. I would have liked Mauldin, Malone and Olver on the fourth line (I know Mauldin's gone now though).

I can see him get call up duty if there is a season this year. I think he will eventually take Kobasew's spot for the 13-14 season.

I personally would have him in ahead of Kobasew, but that's not going to happen. He'll be an injury call-up unless he plays out of his skin at camp. If there's a season.

Like I say, I believe Olver will replace Kobasew. I believe Heard will replace Mitchell. Mcleod just signed a three year contract. Therefore:-

Year one: Mcleod - Mitchell - Kobasew
Year two: Mcleod - Mitchell - Olver
Year three: Mcleod - Heard - Olver
Year four possible: Malone - Heard - Olver

Plans are plans but Malone could play his way onto the team in the next couple years if he's up to the challenge. Or rather, earn a callup and then play too well to be sent back down. If not then he may be waiting for a while.

At this stage I don't think he's better than Kobasew, he showed some promise but has a lot of work to do in his short stint up with the team

I certainly don't expect to see it happen, but I would love for Olver to have other plans and find a scoring touch. They guy did have chemistry with Duchene in his first cup of coffee but, man, the guy had hands of cement. Those two had boat-loads of chances but Olver was just striking out left and right...but he could actually keep up with him and be in position for passes..he just couldn't finish.

Malone would likely be a UFA by or before 2016.

We actually have a roster spot to fill this year with the loss of Porter, he was our 12/13 last year. I could see Malone taking his spot this year.

Malone is better suited for a 4th line role than Olver.

I liked him during his call up. Cant believe a crumb bum like Mcleod is still getting paid to play hockey on this team.

Just realized that was Jaime Lannister in your avatar. I'm slow.

Gotta say would a less offensive brandon yip be a good comparison to him?

I don't think so. Malone is a much better fit for the NHL bottom six role, he hits, he fights and he can chip in points. Yip to me is a better fit for a top six role in the AHL he just doesn't look like a NHL quality player to me.

I see Malone being a lot more grittier and much better defensively than Yip and I hope that they won't be comparable in the future.
