Babcock.

In all seriousness, this is indeed sad news. Hopefully they use his voice for the last minute of play.

Favorite Bud moment: Steven Crosby.

Exactly, just one of those things that completes the experience at the Joe when he pops in on the sound system. He might've screwed up some names but he was our guy...fans take ownership to familiar voices.

I was too young to hear him to actual broadcast...I started following the Wings just as Bruce Martyn was on his way out as the radio voice. I'm sure those old enough to remember those times can speak better about that era.

RIP Mr. Lynch...damn shame we don't have a home opener coming up to allow him to be honored in a timely fashion.

It was rather funny when he couldn't pronounce the players' names like Filppula, cleary etc, sometimes he even said a totally different name...

RIP

On that note, my favorite Budd moment:

The clock was running out of the 1st or 2nd period, and just before it hits 0:00 we hear over the speakers, "One minute to pl-" ::BUZZZZZZZZZZZ!::

And so passes a Joe Louis Legend.

That guy lived quite the life, and he will be missed. I already started missing him when he wouldn't do all the announcements over the speakers during games.

Awesome guy.

Lynch gone, Lidström gone. This definitely starts a new era for Wings fans.

RIP war hero.

I'll really miss Bud Lynch, he truly was the voice of JLA.

I always hoped part of the "old era" would carry over to a new arena, even if it was only for one season. Now, when the Wings do finally get their new arena, there won't be any carry over from The Joe's glory days. At this point, we'll be lucky if Zetterberg is still playing by the time they get the new arena built.

Too bad they won't be able to honor him in some way at a game this year.
