I would like to see Despres in for Murray in game 4 ( especially if Neil is out ). He looks to slow against the Sens forward + with them having the last change. If it does work put him back in for game 5. Thoughts...
I'd much rather see Niskanen dropped. Although I wouldn't be against dropping Murray but he does bring hits, however, I think we need to give the young blood a few games and a chance. Take Glass out and put in Jokinen and drop Sutter for a game and bring in Bennett and Vitale
Oh Geez, Despres sucks.. He looks like a deer caught in head lights. He has no physical ability at all and falls down every 2 seconds.
I thought for sure we were over this Despres crap after the Islanders series.
Murray is tough, bangs like crazy and is not bad at all.
Murray's biggest downside is his lack of speed. Whilst the Senators don't have as much speed as the Islanders they still are a pretty nippy team. Despres brings speed to the game. I think you're being a bit harsh on Despres though myself, this is his first full season in the NHL. He's a novice he's bound to make some mistakes.

Despres is bad, he has no physical game at all. Ottawa would abuse him into mistakes.
No way he plays over Murray, its crazy to even discuss it.

What? He played three games in that series, the first was horrific, but games 5 and 6 (which we won, might I add) he was fantastic. I especially don't understand where you're getting this 'no physical ability' stuff from, unless of course, I'm missing some heavy sarcasm.
In regards to the OP, I don't want Murray to sit. I like what he brings. He's not the problem, it's his partners that have been problematic. Putting a guy like Murray who has issues with speed with other players that have issues with speed (i.e. Engelland, Eaton) makes him look a lot worse.
I'd like Despres in the lineup over Eaton. Despres and Niskanen could split their minutes with Letang/Murray. I'd probably like him in over Niskanen as well, although he has improved a bit from his abysmal play in the Islanders series.
The biggest liability on the blueline is Letang. Bench him..
Bortuzzo for Letang
True that Letang hasn't been amazing or as good maybe as we would've hoped but how many teams scratch their #1 D? (Okay, Martin has been better this season from my personal view but Letang is seen as the #1 D)

There is a reason in those games Despres was the least played Pens D.
Com on folks, think.. Teams needs to go with lineup they played last night. D wasn't an issue last night.
In Game 5 Despres had 14:10
In Game 6 Despres had 12:59.
In Game 1 Engelland had 13:30
In Game 2 Engelland had 8:49
In Game 3 (which went to double overtime) Eaton had 16:35
The number 6 dman in the lineup will always get the least number of minutes. Just because their minutes are small, doesn't mean that a better player wouldn't impact the lineup.
That's like saying fourth liners have no effect on the game.
Aside from Orpik, Murray is the only pure grit, hard hitting stay at home d-man we currently have. If he was able to sustain a faster, harder forechecking Isles team then I don't see why he'd suddenly be a liability against a Sens team who have been anything but impressive offensively. If anything Eaton/Engelland or Nisky should be sat ahead of Murray.
I wouldn't mind seeing Despres in as a sixth man but I definitely don't want to see Murray taken out. He's been very solid. I was actually worried this would be a news post due to the wording of the title.
