I think it very likely that he is staying for their playoff-run.
If we have a season to be played, he better be here to play it. He knew what he was signing up for when he went over there.

... but just this year.
How about no.

Mozyakin is not softer than Sedins. And hardly a worse defender.

Who the F cares how soff he is? Hockey is about outscoring your opponent, not out hitting them or cross checking them in the mouth (Asham). I can't believe some fans rather have goons than talented players on this team, but I read these nonsensical opinions everywhere from our fans. They seem to value just about everything that helps you lose hockey games.

He is obviously an elite scoring talent in the top professional hockey league (currently). I would welcome him with open arms if he ever decided to come to the NHL to play for the Pens or any team.

To even think a player that is currently outscoring Dats, OV, Kovy, Kuny, and even Malkin would not be effective in the NHL is beyond crazy. This isn't his first year of demonstrating scoring talent either (cough Rob Brown).

Odds are pretty good if Mozyakin's game translated to the NHL, he'd be here by now.

Maybe he doesn't want to come here? Would you move to Russia to make 10-15% more money than you are now, but leave behind family and live in a country where you know little of the culture or language? There is more to a player not playing in the NHL than "Their game doesn't translate". It is a life changing decision.

Possibly, but most players also want to play with the best / win in the best league so that's no minor consideration for any KHL player. I think many would play in the NHL if they could.

I think this conversation is useless because its impossible to generalize what is important to everyone.

I can assure you that if any player who averages over 1.0 KHL ppg over their career wanted to play in the NHL, they would have every opportunity to prove their game translates well. Mozy certainly isn't the Russian Craig Adams we are talking about here. Just using the basic league equivalency formula puts him right around 1.0 NHL ppg. Do you think any NHL team would not give a potential ppg player a shot? (assuming his CBJ rights have expired...they did draft him after all) He is a demonstrated talent that has been very consistent in a top league. Bets don't get much safer than him, and he doesn't require any assets to acquire.

Fair enough but I don't agree that he would avg 1 PPG in the NHL or that there is any "statistical correlation" to be made or equivalency. It's much harder to score on an NHL sized rink against NHL defenses and goalies, period. That said even if he averaged only .5PPG during a short stint, he'd still find a job here no problem. Especially in Columbus. Possibly it is the fact that he was drafted by Columbus, that has kept him away. No idea if they still own his rights or what but it's not hard to imagine preferring Russia to Columbus.

Yeah, and athletes don't deserve to make tens of millions of dollars to play a game. "Deserve" has nothing to do with anything in life.

If it did, I'd be the Chairman of the Special Congressional Oversight Board, with full unilateral powers to ****-can anyone who abuses their power instead of serving constituents. I deserve to aid my countrymen in this way, by God!

Just to clarify guys, Mozyakin has always stated that he follows the NHL (and is a sports fan in general) and would consider an invitation from the NHL team, but he never got it (at least, nothing touchable).
However, being 31 with 3 kids, who knows if he takes the risk now.

Malkin should take Mozyakin in his luggage on the way back.

Hmm . . . while we're at it, if Kumy grows a beard, maybe has a little plastic surgery, then it would completely solve the issue of who plays with Sid.

What would it take to get both Mozyakin and Kumy? Then we just need to have Kunitz and Neal with Sid. Mozyakin would be just a contract but what would Toronto want for Kumy?

A decent bit. Affordable, but not cheap.

OT: does anyone recall which thread has the video of Geno in purple, wearing an afro? Wanted to show my wife, but can't find it anywhere ...
