No he can't. KHL team can sign only 3 guys from NHL. Metallurg Magnitogorsk has already signed 3 players: Malkin, Gonch and Kulemin.

There are still several KHL teams that have money to sign Sid:
CSKA has already filled only 2 positions: Dats, Bryz
SKA - 2 players Covi, Bobrovsky. They also want to sign Tyutin and Tarasenko.

Ak Bars won't sign any NHL player, as they believe that lockout soon will end.

Avangard Omsk wants Chervenka.

Dinamo Moscow has signed Ovi, though they had stated they don't need stars from NHL. Doubt that they'll sign anybody else.

Salavat has stated the same.

That is all.

I don't quite understand why so many players are already joining European teams. If the NHL season resumes to something close to a full schedule, plus 10 games in the KHL/SEL/Swiss-A, there might be a fatigue factor for anyone going deep into the playoffs.

May be it's a factor in negotiations with NHL. They wanna show they can find a job no matter what happens in NHL

No doubt, KHL can change this rule. The closer playoff, if lockout will last, let's say, till January, they can increase the number of NHL players from 3 to 4 or 5.

I don't think anyone thinks the lockout is ending anytime soon to be honest.

The KHL is kinda bush league; and it is no where near the NHL; nor is it in the Penguins best interest to have their players there for any length of time.
Consider some guy named Kip Brennan led the KHL in penalty minutes last year with 240 in 14 games. And then just Google "Vityaz Chekhov". Crazy.

Thing is with Chekhov is that the NHL players will at least throw to defend themselves, unlike a lot of the guys they jump. Look at Martin Skoula's actions in one of the games, I can't remember which. He drops the gloves and just holds the guy off. Chekhov are thugs, but it won't be such an issue for the NHL guys, the full time KHLers just turtle and hope the refs jump in.

I'd say for most Europeans, its the opportunity to play at home.

Magnitogorsk against Niznekamsk.

Has Yakupov ever played in the KHL before?

2-0 Magnitogorsk!

2-1 straight away!

No points for Malkin on that.

3-1 now!
