I think he's going to need some time to develop his puck skills and JETS brass will have to take their time with him. They are going to have to be in constant contact with the player advising him with what he needs to work on.

He's a "Sutter" in every sense and and I fear he's trying too hard to live up to the name, but at some point he's going to have reign it in a little. To take the next step, he can't be playing balls to the wall 100 percent of the time. Playing that way, he will become a target for the zebras.

Basically, he has to keep his gritty intensity by walking a fine line without crossing it and not becoming a penalty liability. Hopefully that will come with maturity.

Yea that was a big time blast. Very nice skill package and nice to see him in Collage working on his game vs being rushed into the NHL. I do like the philosophy of draft and DEVELOP

One of the rare night that schiefele did not register a point BUT I LIKE.....

http://www.barriecolts.com/article/c...eak-to-7-games

The division rivals did not disappoint tonight playing in a close defensive battle.

Both teams showed up for this game in the first period, as it was a chippy-opening frame. The Colts had three power play opportunities and showed great puck movement but could not solve Sudbury Goaltender Joel Vienneau. The Wolves Nathan Pancel would open the scoring at 9:53 on the power play to take the 1 – 0 lead. Mathew Campagna and Frank Corrado would pick up assists.

The Barrie Colts came out in the second period flying putting the pressure on Sudbury early. Erik Bradford would notch his fifth goal of the season just 59 seconds in to tie the game 1-1. Aaron Ekblad and Josh MacDonald got the assists. At 10:59 Colts Andreas Athanasiou would continue his hot streak giving Barrie the lead on the powerplay. Athanasiou would spin away from the Sudbury defenseman in the corner and walk out in front of the net where he made no mistake going backhand shelf over Joel Vinneau. Athanasiou has now registered a point in 8 straight games. After forty minutes of play the Colts would take a 2 – 1 lead into the third period.

Playing three games in three nights did not slow Barrie down in the final period. Both teams had their fair share of scoring chances but neither team could put one past either net minder. Late in the final few minutes a number of Barrie players showed gutsy efforts to hold on for the win. Mathias Niederberger made a diving save to keep the game at 2 – 1 and forward Mark Scheifele had a huge shot block in the dieing seconds. Niederberger now leads the league in wins with 7 on the season stopping 33 of 34 shots on the night. The Barrie Colts are now riding a 7 game winning streak into next week and remain at the top of the standings. Ekblad and MacDonald would both finish the game with two assists each.

I am not sure if our posters remember but Adam was on a point per game clip last year before his injury. at the time of the draft I remember as much as people were questioning our 1st round pick the same experts on TSN were really high on our value for Lowery in the 3rd round. with the Kosmo pick this past draft it appears three might be our lucky number

The great part about Lowery is he has size, pedigree, character, and leadership (captain).

I've got an idea: trade our 1st and 2nds for multiple 3rds, and pick a whole whack of 3rd rounders this year? It is quite nice to see that the selections in later rounds are doing very well. Atlanta's selection of Telegin was good too - we could have a very nicely stocked cupboard of prospects in a few years.

Interestingly enough Lowry closely resembles Telegin statistically wise...
NameDraftYear DraftRound YrRelDraft G/GP A/GP Pts/GP
Adam Lowry 2011 3 2 0.700.701.40
   10.330.691.03
   00.270.410.68
Ivan Telegin 2010 4 2 0.760.631.39
   10.340.691.03
   00.510.350.86
Both big guys with some speed... Although Telegin is faster.

I'd be down for trading away all our 2nd's... We do horrible there.
In franchise history only Ondrej Pavelec and Jeremy Morin have been second rounders to play more than 10 NHL games... although, I'm sure Klingberg will be there soon.

ECHL Stuff

ECHL is a little more talent filled due to trickle down affect.I'll only look at Sol, Forney and Carrozzi since they are the only ones considered "prospects."
Colorado Eagles played Friday and Saturday vs Alaska which has some notable players (Brandon Dubinsky, Nate Thompson and, funny enough, Joey Crabb).

Friday:
Colorado Eagles 3 - Alaska Aces 6
Sol 0-0-0 +0 2pim 0shots
2 - COL Sol, 7:44 - Slashing - minor, (61.2) 2 min (PP)
Forney 0-0-0 +0 0pim 0shots

Saturday:
Colorado Eagles 3 - Alaska Aces 1
Sol 0-0-0 +0 7pim 1shot
2 - COL Sol, 14:06 - Roughing - minor, (51.2) 2 min
2 - COL Sol, 19:40 - Fighting - Major, (46.13) 5 min
Forney 2-0-2 +1 0pim 3shots
1. COL Forney, (1) (Schneekloth), 9:25
2. COL Forney, (2) (Combs, Costello), 14:42 (PP)
http://echl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=9633

Chris Carrozzi has yet to dress for the Ontario Reign.

EDIT: Thanks Holden! I was using Hockey's Future list which obviously is out of date. No longer will I put Forney's stuff on here. I'll basically just track Sol and occasionally Carrozzi... unless someone wants to be nice and track ECHL for me

Just a note, LW Michael Forney is no longer Winnipeg Jets property (was not tendered a QO), in fact he is not even signed to an AHL deal as far as I know he signed only by Colorado (ECHL). I would not consider him a prospect by any means, he has proven he cannot play even at the AHL level effectively.

On Colorado only D Cody Sol is signed to an NHL deal (with WPG obviously). D Jake Marto, LW Norm Ezekiel and RW Joey Sides are signed with St. John's.

Why proven talented ECHL netminder Chris Carrozzi is not with Colorado when all they have is well below average ECHL starter Kyle Jones and rookie Adam Brown (who was up and down in WHL) I absolutely no idea.

Best prospects on Colorado are probably Sol (obviously), G Adam Brown(3 years WHL starter, had a solid year as a 19yo in 10-11, 21yo), and D Colin Bowman (former Moose Jaw captain, good size, put up pts from the blueline in WHL, 21yo).

Of note with Colorado would be C Gabe Gauthier, formerly a very solid AHLer with Manchester Monarchs (was ppg in 07-08, played 8 games LA 06-08) and an effective undersized hard working player but is 28. LW Jack Combs is a former 100pt player in OHL, and was effective with Worchester last year getting 16g, 30pts in 50gp while getting almost 2ppg in 23 ECHL gp last year. He is only 24.

If the lockout ends and St. John's runs into injury trouble those would be the guys they should look at for ATO's from Colorado, IMO (Brown, Bowman, Gauthier (veteran), Combs)
