Who came out on top (Bos or Tor)

Seguin
Kaberle
Hamilton
knight

Kessel
2nd rd (traded for liles)
Colborne
30th overall (packaged with a 39th for 22nd (biggs))

There has been huge debates determining who won the kessel trade, but i also feel like the kaberle trade i very underrated and was a huge steal from the leafs. My question is, who came out on top between these two teams when you combine these recent blockbuster trades.

Thoughts?

Boston won a cup. Toronto needs Kessel though

They are 2 different trades. Toronto won Kabs value wise by a good margin, and Boston Kessel vice versa.

It's still too early to tell. Seguin still has room to grow, Kessel is still only 24, Hamilton, Knight and Biggs haven't played a game in the NHL yet and Colborne has only seen very limited action. We don't know how half of the parts will turn out yet

Toronto would be better off having Seguin and Hamilton on a rebuilding roster, while Boston would have had a better chance at winning more than one Cup the past three years with Kessel on their roster. So in that sense, both teams lost.

Boston got the cap space they needed at the time, won a cup and Hamilton is probably the best d-man not playing in the NHL right now and should be a 1st pairing d-man 2-3 years from now.

Actually if you think about it without Kessel they would have had 1st overall... since they sucked at center they probably would have stuck with Seguin. But in the second year they would've drafted earlier without Kessel.
