Wow. So, I started working at a local charity that provides after-school stuff to kids from low-income neighborhoods to keep them off the streets. Seems pretty straight-forward, right? Last night, I went to help out at this public forum where a group of lawyers and bank people were doing pro-bono work. They were to have 30 minutes of answering general questions about...whatever. And then break up to offer to help people individually and schedule them in. I was just there to serve refreshments and guide people to the kind of lawyer/bank person they needed (we had all kinds).

So, we are about to split up from the main group, and the person running it says we have time for one more question. Keep in mind that the age of consent in my state is 16. He says "So let me get this straight. I can sleep with a 16 year old, but it is illegal for her to send me naked pictures after? Is this really fair?"

WTF? lol. Everyone else there was like poor parents who wanted help figuring out how to refinance loans or figure out a payment plan for random stuff. Or divorce/visitation things, lol. What is wrong with people?

Just found an apartment across a patch of grass from where I work. Quality of life just increased significantly.

good stuff. I walked to work most of last school year and it was awesome. on the work topic, I finally decided to stop looking for teaching or science jobs and applied to some other jobs yesterday. Sales, employee training, marketing, etc. I have two interviews tomorrow. College is dumb.

It means to wear your big boy pants. Whatever that means

Just try to get a feel for your interviewer. A well-timed joke, or knowing to stay completely professional, can make all the difference. I believe in you.

Robbery suspect also stole a police cruiser not long ago. Pittsburgh police having a hard time this morning.

great song. My be a pro in NHL 10 was named Ludwig Boltzmann and every time he scored either Heat of the Moment or The Heat is On played. It was awesome. You know, because of thermodynamics. We had a horribly unsuccessful online team of all old scientists like Dmitri Mendeleev and Hermann von Helmholtz. Seriously awesome hockey names. We were the Bunson Burners. Like, we're from Bunson, and the name is the Burners. ya

but ya, great song.

true story. I did Greensburg to Erie for 2 years with the now-wife. it sucked. But it can in fact work. Then again, that's not all that long as far as long distance goes. My brother and his now wife did two years California/State college.

Apparently we have the long distance gene but it definitely sucks.

i am stuck working the overnight shift in the emergency department here, from 9pm to 7am.

i have never done an overnight weekend shift here before. about 10 of the 32 beds here are filled with drunk undergrads. half of them are d-bags that try to fight staff and argue about how bright of a future they have cuz they go to wharton. other half are like sad nerds that cant handle their alcohol and are flipping out-- i feel bad for these kids.
