You picked a great word when you say the game "caters" to that style of play. People who use BS cheese tactics actually get rewarded for it, while people like me who try to play realistic hockey can actually be punished for it.

This.

I especially hate it when the other team doesn't dump the puck when they're on the penalty kill. Seriously, have they ever watched hockey before?

Don't get me started on the poke checking...

It's not so much that they don't dump it on the penalty kill, it's that they don't have to. The game makes it so ridiculously easy for a penalty-killing team to just hold onto the puck, perhaps getting more scoring chances than the team on the power play! Same thing with the dump-and-chase; there's no point in using it because it doesn't work. You're more likely to just turn it over because there's no effective way to set up a forecheck when breakout passes are as easy and accurate as they are. You're better off just carrying it into the zone every time so you don't risk losing possession. And if you do set up a forecheck, good luck trying to backcheck when all it takes is a quick pass to a 90 overall skater to beat your slow-pivoting defense.

It's like I said: The game rewards people for playing unrealistic hockey because it caters to them. That's why you don't see people clearing the puck on PKs; the game makes it so they don't have to, it actually makes it easy to just deke through the entire team and get short-handed scoring chances.

And like I've said in the past, poke-checking may be too effective, but it's certainly better than letting players deke through your team unscathed, further encouraging those BS tactics.

How am I supposed to win at this game anyways? (see attachment)

I was the Sabres. Harding was the goalie for Ottawa.

This is the kind of short side goal I hate seeing because it's way too easy to score on and it happens way too often online. A goaltender should not bite on that kind of "deke" and leave the short side wide open like that. This was against Antii Niemi in Hockey Ultimate Team on Pro settings, but it happens on All-Star and sometimes on Superstar.

Just bought NHL '13 last night. I'm liking the revamps in skating and goalie motions. The goalies are actually playing like goalies now and the player skating motions are much more realistic. I also notice my AI teammates aren't pissing me off like they used to in '12. I've only played about five games in BAP but so far I'm really like the changes. It doesn't feel like a huge leap forward over '12 and worth the $63 to buy a new copy but as a hardcore fan of the franchise I do like the gameplay in '13 more.

Play for a week and then tell us how you feel about the goalies.

Where every team learns one goal and trades it back and forth for 2000 games?

I don't even know how people can play this mode anymore, it's so ridiculous. I've moved on from it this year and don't miss that incessant stick slapping by every player on the ice all game one bit.

If your team is constantly calling for the pass then you're playing on the wrong team.

What you described is nothing close to what my team does.
We establish a STRONG cycle game that can't be accomplished in VS and dominate teams in their own zone until we can create quality scoring chances. In your post, you just made it clear that you weren't playing for very good teams because if you were, you'd know that what you described is what EASHL played by garbage/QC teams is.
Also, playing 6's would make your entire post wrong

Geez. I would have ****ing imploded if that goal was scored against me.

But yeah, I don't think I've ever seen one goalie interference call in this game. I've hit the goalie unintentionally a lot, too.
