I'm little concerned too as he has never been in national team before and that could be a factor for Hadamczik.
But I tell you one thing.. I usually have sticked up for Hadamczik when he was criticized but if he doesn't take Sobotka, I'm done.
I feel like this would be the Czech equivalent of Subban being snubbed by Canada. Ok, don't go crazy with that comparison, but there is no doubt that Sobotka belongs on the team and should have a pivotal role.

Is anyone watching Sobotka play this season? He just led one of the hottest NHL teams in total ice time among forwards. He's basically top 3 in faceoffs among regulars (higher depending on what you consider the cut-off), he's by far the most physical of all the players being mentioned and he's playing great positionally. His hockey sense has been off the charts. Of course he's not a goal scorer, but there's other guys for that.

If Sobotka is not given a critical role, the Czech hockey federation should catch a lot of flack. If he doesn't even make it....wow.

I think the Czech's could be a huge underdog going into the Olympics. I can see them ending up with a medal easily. Interesting some of you don't have Hemsky in your lineups.. He played great at the World Championships for Czech. I would think he'd be a lock, especially considering Jagr loves playing with him, and even Krejci played with Hemsky during the lockout. He'd dominate on international ice.

Concerns about his play on bigger ice.

I think Hemsky will be there. And yes, I have a good feeling about this tournament, but at the end of the day, it always comes down to chemistry and how quick it is found. Which is something almost impossible to predict.

Without knowing ANY inside lineup thoughts of any kind, this would be my roster:

Goalies:

Pavelec is a lock. Neuvirth, Salak, Stepanek and Mrazek are the other 4 here. I'd go with Pavelec, Neuvirth and Mrazek, but Salak/Stepanek could replace Mrazek, who cares.

D-Men:

Hejda-Michalek
Smid-Zidlicky
Kindl-Rozsival
Kaberle/Gudas

Blatak could replace Kaberle or Gudas for sure. If they want to take more non NHL Czechs, then Novak/Nakladal/Kutlak are first in line. I don't feel like Polak will be ready.

Forwards:

Elias-Krejci-Vrbata
Hudler-Plekanec-Jagr
Fleischmann-Hanzal-Voracek
Cervenka-Sobotka-Frolik
Michalek/Erat

Hemsky and Palat are possible too, Hemsky for Michalek and Palat for Erat.

Ales Hemsky will be going to the Olympics for the Czechs, full roster expected tomorrow.

That's ridiculous. Vrbata is a very good scorer that learned to play Tippet's system. Reliable guy that Czech Rep don't have enough of.

So according to this article, Hadamczik is going to take Nedved instead of Hudler. If true then this is going to be worse than I'm expecting.
I'm startting to be really scared about today's press conference.

...I'm being sceptical since it is still a blesk.cz but if that's true, then we should be expecting pretty much anything ...

Wow Nedved is still playing regularly! I knew he was still active, but I thought it was more in a leadership role. My lines are below, no Nedved.

Elias - Krejci - Jagr
Hudler - Hanzal - Vrbata
Fleischmann - Plekanec - Voracek
Palat - Sobotka - Frolik
Hemsky - M. Michalek

Hejda - Zidlicky
Kindl - Gudas
Smid - Rozsival
Novak, Nakladal

Pavelec
Salak
Mrazek

Good center depth and three legitimate scoring lines. Sobotka centers a decent shutdown line. Spare wings (Hemsky, Michalek) with lots of speed.

Blueline is a little weak. Assuming Polak and Z Michalek probably out due to injury. Reaching for KHL guys as spares going with Novak for offense and Nakladal for size and defense.

Pavelec obvious starter in goal. Neuvirth hasn't played enough to warrant a roster spot. Salak has been good in the KHL. Mrazek has been good in the AHL and brought along more for his youth and giving him the experience for the future.

I'd take Kovar over Salak. He was a beast in the EHT and is doing well in the KHL. Cervenka has a pretty big chance of making it too right?

Oh man.. if that's true then i'm not going to be happy. Taking Nedved isn't a huge surprise, but over Hudler? Hes having such a good season! And on a crappy Calgary team.

I actually really like this line-up. Going to be my underdog pick to medal. Biggest question mark for me is goaltending, but we all know how hard that is to predict.

Plus he's really good on a big ice.
I understood not taking him in 2010 but now he belongs there for sure.

I really doubt those rumours about Jiri Hudler, but we never know I guess.

The Czech brass do not that you don't get to draft Connor McDavid if you tank at the Olympics right?

If it is true that Hadamczik is going to take Barinka instead of Hejda, Hemský instead of Hudler and Nedvěd I-don't-want-to-know-instead-of-whom, then I'm not sure he would draft McDavid, even if he had the chance. We would probably end up with a mid-level prospect that is good on big ice and is supposed to have chemistry with some older player.

I still want to believe this all is just some foolish tabloid speculation.

One hour till the press conference. Robert Zaruba (one of the most prominent persons in Czech hockey) tweeted, that there are two names on the roster that shocked him.

So Nedvěd and Barinka?

I doubt Zaruba would be shocked by Nedved. Im hoping it will be some young players from NHL (palat, sustr, gudas, etc...). I will probably bang my head into the wall if its Barinka
