i played juniors in canada, and team owners were making money off me. I still think that, as players, we owe something to the game. No one is asking players to risk terrible injuries and crippled old age after careers, just to make a pittance.
I'm not asking the players to take a beating financially while the owners make better profits.
I'm asking the top 40% (higher-contract) players to come down on the unrealistic money they are earning now, while the 10-12 richest owners share the wealth more (e.g. Take in lower profits) so the league can function. That's not too much to ask. There will be a much smaller pie to cut up, if the greedy richest franchise owners, and the greedy players don't decide it's better to be less greedy.
Pens fan coming in peace. I just noticed Vlad's stats and they're pretty amazing. Less than 14:00 ATOI and he's still scoring almost 1.5PPG including 10G and a +8 (so obviously not all PP tallies). You guys have a special player on your hands I suspect. That was a great move in the draft last year to get him. I forgot what Ottawa got in return (it was Ottawa right?) but good move on your GM's part for sure.
Vladi was taken in 2010, being known as one of the most NHL ready Russians in awhile. He has reached an elite prospect title in the past 2 years. Ottawa or St. Louis offered the 16th pick for David Rundblad after, according to some rumors, the Blues selected Jaden Schwartz and Ottawa didn't have their guy.
Missed the second period of todays game, but Tarasenko played pretty well in what I did see. In the third period he was one of the few SKA forwards who actually looked like he was showing some urgency in trying to make something happen. Can't really blame Vityaz for their ultra-defensive tactics, but glad they lost in regulation!

The trade between STL and OTT was set up quite a but ahead of time but was contingent upon the player OTT wanted not being there. If he was, then the deal was off. There were rumors that the player OTT was hoping to get was Schwartz but that's just a guess by some fans. OTT's own GM, Murray, said it was Skinner but many don't believe him as it was nearly impossible Skinner would've lasted to 16th overall that draft. Personally, I don't care. OTT made it clear they weren't willing to deal with the Russian factor so if the Blues hadn't have been willing to trade Runblad for that pick, there's no way OTT would've drafted Tarasenko.
Bottom line, I really like how it turned out for the Blues. They've got an absolute stud in Tarasenko IMO and Schwartzy isn't half bad either.

Interesting stuff. For some reason I was thinking he was Class of 2011 but either way, skillz.
They've played enough games together now so I'd really be interested to hear what Kovalchuk has to say about Tarasenko. Anyone have a recent interview or something?
Great play from Tarasenko carrying the puck into the Minsk end with about 3 minutes left, the little lay-off pass deserved a goal. Probably the best player on the ice in the first.
Alklha...Are you watching a KHL game ? Where ? What site or Channel?
h22prelude93's post has the link. I don't know if it loads after a while, but I translated the page and clicked on the SKA-Dinamo "live on" link. Then I just picked the first link that opened up under that. They're in the 2nd intermission now.
