Read the above post. I couldn't fix it before it was quoted.

Button thinks Schultz will lead in points AND goals, while Mike Johnson called Tarasenko a dark horse to score the most rookie goals. Has he been overhyped or are these guys clueless? Personally, I think he has a shot of being a perennial threat for 25-30 goals and 55-60 points once he finds his game. Is that too high?
If Tarasenko turned out to be a 55-point player, that'd be extremely disappointing.

If that's extremely disappointing, at what point totals would he be not disappointing at all? 80?

I love Tarasenko's potential, which is elite, but expectations are getting pretty well out of hand. I hope fans don't turn on him if he doesn't regularly produce 40 goals or a point per game.

That's what I'm saying. With all the hype he's getting it would be hilarious if he wasn't any better offensively than Backes or Oshie. I mean seriously? How many media folks have said he could become a star? 55-60 points wouldn't cut it.

So yeah, asking for 80 points in his prime shouldn't be too much to ask for. If he can't do that then the Blues still fail to learn their lesson when it comes to touting their prospects.

So you're going to expect him to be an elite player so that if he is not, the St. Louis Blues organization will learn from your spiteful expectations that they should be more moderate about how media covers their prospects?

Armstrong and Hitchcock have spoken highly of him, but they speak highly of those players who just score in the 50's, too. I haven't heard anything from the actual St. Louis Blues that recommends expectations like that. All of the really crazy hype is coming from fans. And you can choose to filter that rather than accepting it as some kind of poor management choice on behalf of the Blues to mislead fans about prospects.

Tarasenko regularly putting up 60 points a season would be great in my opinion. I think his absolute potential is that of a 70 point scorer, so if he puts up 60 a season, I wouldn't be disappointed at all.

The NHL is a different game compared to the KHL, but I think the fact he has been playing is of more significance than the adjustments to style he is going to have to make. If he gets off to a fast start, then those expectations are going to go through the roof!

Put Tarasenko on the Penguins, and I think it would be fair to say he has PPG potential, maybe even more. With the current make-up of this Blues team, 65 points isn't unrealistic.

Anything north of 25 this season will be great though.

I think we have to be specific regarding when we would be satisfied with Tarasenko putting up 55 points. If he did that next season, I'd be okay with that, but most certainly not in his prime. I expect Tarasenko to put up around 75 points a season. In my opinion, he has the same potential as Duchene, Landeskog, and possibly Seguin.

He's had a couple of great plays. Sick goal, drew a penalty, was physical quite a bit. Only questionable play that I saw was that cross ice pass in the neutral zone. It gave Russell a great chance but only because Steen lifted the stick of the guy that was about to pick it off. I'm sure Hitch will get that corrected.

Most of the fanbase is expecting more than 55 points in his prime, bud.

Two goals. Not bad for Taras. I hope Hitch won't send him to the AHL.

I think it was meant to poke fun at how Hitchcock handled Filatov in Columbus.

Anyway, I just came from the Ottawa boards to say you guys have quite a gem there. I regret trading Rundblad for the 16th pick.

I only saw the stat sheet and the highlights, and I'm curious to know if he plays/will play any PK time.

I would imagine he will eventually. Hitch likes to have his best players kill penalties. Jaden Schwartz was killing some penalties tonight, and defense is not really his strength, so I wouldn't see any reason for him not to pk later in the season.

He won't be playing on the PK. He hasn't developed a strong enough defensive game for that yet, but I think that will come over the next couple of years.

Beauty goals isn't everything Tarasenko has. I bet people will see some realy good passes from him pretty soon. And he forechecks and backchecks as well.
