You're also going from the stone age to the iPhone. I'm talking about the fools who constantly buy the new one EVERY year, just because of the "new resolution" or the "front camera". Apple has all of you in their grasp and you accept it.
The need to "upgrade" from iPhone to iPhone has always confused me. The differences seem marginal at best. I'm changing from an LG Cosmos that turns off if you slide the keyboard out too fast.
I actually hadn't seen Alien before I saw Prometheus, so that could definitely have added to my disappointment.
That video is pretty ****ing funny, but it's not so much having to do with watching the other films as it is what will be explained in the ones to follow. Ridley Scott also loved to keep people guessing and i know a lot of people hate this tactic, but i love going into a film (especially one as intricate as this one) and not having everything explained to me.
I have to say one thing, I did almost scream at the TV when the two women were running in a straight line away from the rolling ship. That was just dumb. I was like "****ing go to the right idiots" but everything else that wasn't explained (and some things you do pick up on from watching the other Alien movies) were done that way to be more realistic IMO. I don't know Ridley personally but it was fun for me because I didn't know what to expect next and I love that in movies, especially in ones that take place on other planets.
Also, a lot of those questions in the video actually have answers but i mean, only the mega nerds really know and I know some of them but I'm not admitting to being a nerd...
How? Was it not what you were expecting in terms of the Alien movies? Or just in general?
Yes.
And yes.
I don't even know where to begin with what a mess that movie is.
Alien is my favorite movie of all time. One of the few movies ever that you could argue is perfect. It was made with little more then seven talented actors, an impressive but limited set, and a ridiculously well written script.
Brett, Dallas, Lambert, Ash, Kane, Carter, and Ripley.
Written so that every single character is given enough dialogue and enough screen time to make them all important.
I feel that its greatest accomplishment is having characters who act believably even though they are thrust into a highly unbelievable situation. You never ever question the motives of the crew or why somebody does something.
I'm not sure if you understand how much I love the movie, and how much I was looking forward to Prometheus. I went to the midnight show and I get up for work at 5:30.
Prometheus did everything the opposite of Alien (just my opinion):
Ridiculously poor script
Way too many characters. Not nearly enough character development.
Too many "Why did (insert character here) do that?" moments
The greatest question was "Who were the Space Jockeys?" And I think not knowing was better than what we got.

Well yeah at that point it's a matter of opinion based on how we like our movies delivered to us. If Prometheus was just a lone movie in itself I would have hated it also, but there's so much that will be explained in the future. Ridley Scott made sure a lot of the movie was left unexplained and "out there", including what David says to the Architect at the end that makes him flip out and kill everyone. My problems with the film were "why even hire Guy Pierce to play an old man with a terrible make-up job when hiring an actual old man would have sufficed." haha and again, the women running in a straight line..that got me. A lot of it had to do with character development which i can agree was done poorly, but was almost shielded by the fact that this was a new installment of Alien, which i agree was one of the best movies of all time and I'm not a huge sci-fi kinda guy.
A lot was supposed to be left unexplained which people a lot of people off but the next movie will be even more epic than ever. I loved the classic Ridley Scott cinematography and not using 100% CGI but staying true to animatronics and stuff like that is always a plus and i think a lot more movies are getting really good at merging the two beautifully. I think he does an excellent job of throwing us back into the mix and keeping us guessing all the way until the end of the film. We can at least agree that the development of the Alien was pretty cool? (from weapon, to human, to woman's womb, to Architect and then finally...boom). It was awesome, just wish there was more of the Alien and less idiotic biologist?

Have never owned an Apple product. Never will. I'm not a sheep. You can get better products for your money.

All I have is a Macbook Pro. It's just simple. I don't use my computer for anything other than work, internet, and social media. It's a very useful computer for a highschool/college student. And I've owned it for three years now. I don't go buying the new product every time it comes out.
Other than that, I completely boycott Apple. I will never own an iPhone.
