Nemisz has been used in bottom 6 roles and playing with plugs since returning. He also missed all of training camp, I wouldn't look too much into a slow start under those circumstances.

An NHL caliber player should be dominant in the AHL and able to create offence on their own. Nemisz has been neither.

Man - it really looks like this kid did us a favour by requesting a trade.

To not make the Blue Jackets' blue line - as stellar as it is - that's almost a Wade Redden kind of bad, good thing he still has "potential".

and... I guess it's not just our system that destroys first round picks.

If he was being billed a future 1st line NHLer then yeah, but he isn't. If Nemisz becomes an NHL regular it will be in a bottom 6 role with penalty killing time. Not all bottom 6 players are dominant in the AHL and not all can create their own offense.

Example: Lance bouma he does not carry his line or create offense.

That is true but he has looked invisible almost every game he has played in. I understand he isn't in his usual role but he is playing much worse than he was this time last year.

Just finished watching Gillies and Jankowski against UMass-Lowell and thought you guys would want some reports on them.

Gillies was both good and bad.
He faced 50 shots and only gave up two goals, but he was a bit lucky.
His glove hand is very good and he's great down low, post to post (made a few incredible saves with his legs).
However, his rebound control was not the greatest and too many pucks handcuffed him.
When I say he got lucky, I mean that some of the pucks that handcuffed him just ended up finding their way through him but missing the goal.
That being said, he was drafted as a project and his athleticism and size are what make goalie coaches salivate.
The first goal he gave up was a bit weird, but he just whiffed on it.
The player was coming down the right side and took a shot from the top of the circle and it seemed to just knuckle slowly towards Gillies.
He was in position to have it, then just completely missed, probably because the puck was wonky.
The second goal was a tip with a bunch of traffic in front off a shot from the point; he had no chance.

Jankowski was very good.
I was a huge fan of him last year and probably one of the only people who actually watched him play at Stanstead, so I was very excited to see him (my first viewing of him this season).
He dwarfed everyone else on the ice besides the goaltenders, it seemed.
He was really smooth but obviously needs to still get stronger.
His hockey sense and vision was on display all night, as he was just a step ahead of everyone else.
He's very clearly Providence's best skater and their talent level is average at best, so he has to generate offense himself or nothing's going to happen.
Their play in the neutral zone was just awful and they didn't break out of their zone well; both were big reasons why they were dominated.
They had him on the first line with Stefan Demopoulos and Tim Schaller; he was listed as a LW on the game sheet but they had him taking faceoffs in certain situations.
Basically anything on his offensive side of the ice was a faceoff for him, while defensive ones were given to another member of the line or his line was switched off completely.
He saw PP1 time and zero PK time.
If I had one complaint, it'd be that his shifts were far too short (I'd guess 30 seconds).
I felt like most of his shifts were incomplete because he'd call for a change too early.
I know he's coming off of an injury so maybe that had something to do with it, or maybe Leaman is on him about something.
He had a beautiful assist on their only goal; he picked up a loose puck along the wall, put it their the legs of the defender, then found Ross Mauermann wide open in the slot for the goal.
It was a nice display of his hands and reach.
After another summer of working out, watch out..

Jankowski does look huge out there (or maybe I've just watched too much Gaudreau highlights). Hope he takes off in the 2nd half of the season like Johnny did last year.

I think he is already past Brossoit and Ortio on the depth chart.

Jankowski definitely looked tall from the highlights.

Hey guys, how are Wotherspoon and Gillies expected to develop?

Good chance either of them crack the roster by 2014-15?

I personally am not as high on Wotherspoon as others and see him as a #5/6 guy I think he plays alot like Butler but a little more physical.

I am really high on Gillies and would say he could be a solid starter he plays alot like Anderson.

I would say Gillies will take all 4 years in the NCAA and maybe 1 in the Ahl and Wotherspoon could make the team in 2014-2015.
