Yeah it's kind of a good news, bad news article as Jankowski is still rated as a 1st rounder but the new rankings has Teravainen, Laughton, Hertl and Girgensons at 11, 12, 13 and 18th respectively. All were available at 14, our original draft position.
It'll come down to Janks and Seiloff vs. each one of those guys. Should work out for us but last time FLames did that Chucko, Prust and Boyd vs. Zajac hasn't worked out.
Interesting piece here from the Hockey News -- after watching all the draftees play for half a season, they had a panel of scouts re-rank the 2012 draft. For everyone who said Jankowski shouldn't have been a 1st round pick, he's ranked 25th on the list (we drafted him 21st) while guys like Slater Koekkoek (taken 10th by Tampa Bay), Cody Ceci (taken 15th by Ottawa), Jordan Schmaltz (taken 25th by St. Louis), Brendan Gaunce (taken 26th by Vancouver), Brady Skjei (taken 28th by the New York Rangers) and Tanner Pearson (taken 30th by Los Angeles) didn't crack the top 50.
A small glimmer of light down what looks to be a very long tunnel.
talk about an oversight of Pearson. Probably because he's playing pro now, but his AHL scoring clip is better than any of our AHL players. 0.7ppg in their rookie AHL season is pretty good.
Went to the PC game last night. If I were Flames fans I would be so excited about Gillies. So calm and poised in the net. Made two breakaway stops to save defenseman. Jankowski also played well. Made a real nice move and drew a penalty. Also played a little more physically than normal. I am going to todays game as well so will try to get qnother update for you guys

Thanks for that. I'm blown away by Gillies's accomplishments this year. I was extremely skeptical about taking a goalie in the top-90 when there were defense and center concerns that still needed addressing. We picked an unreal goalie prospect and still some good defensemen in Kulak and Culkin (yikes on the organizational center situation though!!!!).

The only center that we really passed on is Leipsic and he wouldn't have fixed our center problem. We have a fair amount depth at #3 center prospect range (Reinhart, Arnold, Nemisz) we just don't have that top end talent (maybe in Janko time will tell)
Abbotsford is playing today and with Taylor recalled Irving isn't even on the bench. Brust us playing and Rollheiser is the backup. Is Irving injured or in someone's doghouse?

The Calgary Flames announced today they have recalled goaltender Danny Taylor from the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League. Miikka Kiprusoff will not travel to Dallas due to his wife’s pregnancy and the imminent birth of their second child. Additionally, Leland Irving had minor elective surgery on March 12th. The surgery went very well and he is expected to return to play within 2 weeks.
