Maybe a development camp or something? They've got my interest.

My first thought was maybe the WJC evaluation camp or something, but that wouldn't be a "new" event.

Maybe a women's hockey event? Do they have national championships for women's or girls teams?

Yes they do.

Some local girls teams went to the nationals this year after winning the state championships for their respective tiers and ages.

Tier 1
Buffalo Bisons 12u
Buffalo Bisons 14u
Buffalo Bisons 16u

Tier 2
West Seneca Wings 12u
Buffalo Regals 14u

The Bisons 16u, West Seneca 12u and Regals 14u teams all played in the national chamionship games for their respective tiers and ages. Unfortunately they all lost. 2nd in the nation doesn't have a bad ring to it though.

I know the one rink at the Northtown Center was recently renovated to allow for sled hockey. Maybe something to do with that?

Vogl tweeted that this is a "draft showcase" for 17-18 year old eligible US prospects.

About 40 players will participate for the purpose of hoping to increase visibility of top US prospects.

Pretty cool, plus 17 year olds have low expectations for the quality of hotels

Anyone want to make bets on who the first person to go off the reservation and ask about the season / Ruff / Regier will be?

Anyone from TBN is even money. :p

Not sure who asked, but more than one person did.

Despite attempts by media, #Sabres president Ted Black would not talk about the season or Darcy/Lindy decision.

Gutless.

I'm guessing Pegula and Black made a big effort to make this happen so good on them.

If they're not capable of doing more than one thing, they might as well just put the team back on the market.

Agreed on the gutless part.

Good to see the Sabres step up on this. I'd guess there would be a short list of destinations for this event if it takes off, maybe here, Boston, Minnesota, maybe Detroit. Hopefully it comes around often.

Will be cool to go see Seth Jones play, the son of former NBA player Popeye Jones. I guess this kid is the next big thing on defense.

Is his nickname Sweet Pea?

I was worried, with the new ownership, that the team wasn't going to be interested in special events like this. I think it will be a fun time, I plan on going. It will make the 2013 draft more interesting.

Tickets for the USA Hockey-All American Prospects Game are on sale now.
$20.00 for 100/200 Level and $15.00 for 300 Level. Click on the banner
promoting ticket sales on the Sabres website to order your tickets.

Although if your local and can get down to the FNC, I would just get your tickets
there and thus save the $8-$9 service charge that ticketmaster puts on each ticket.

The rosters for the September 29th game at FNC have been announced... CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game Roster Announced:
Quote:
Among the 12 defensemen invited are Seth Jones (Plano, Texas) and Will Butcher (Sun Prairie, Wis.), who helped the U.S. National Under-18 Team win a gold medal at the 2012 International Ice Hockey Federation Men's Under-18 World Championship. They are joined by Dakota Mermis (Alton, Ill.), who helped guide the USHL's Green Bay Gamblers to Anderson Cup and Clark Cup titles in 2012.

The 24 forwards feature J.T. Compher (Northbrook, Ill.), Ryan Hartman (West Dundee, Ill.), Matt Lane (Rochester, N.Y.), Anthony Louis (Winfield, Ill.), Quentin Shore (Denver, Colo.) and Frank Vatrano (East Longmeadow, Mass.) who were also members of the U.S. team that won the 2012 IIHF Men's Under-18 World Championship.

Goaltenders for the event include Jared Rutledge (Chicago, Ill.), who also captured gold as a member of the U.S. National Under-18 Team at the 2012 IIHF Men's Under-18 World Championship; Hunter Miska (North Branch, Minn.) from the NTDP; and Eamon McAdam (Perkasie, Pa.) and Cal Peterson (Waterloo, Iowa), both from the USHL's Waterloo Blackhawks.

For the complete roster, click here. For more information or to purchase tickets to the event, visit AllAmericanProspectsGame.com.
