Do PP goals not count in the AHL or something? The Nuge - as an undersized 18 yr old rook - quarterbacked the Oilers PP to 3rd best in the NHL. He WILL have Ebs and Hall, as well as a better PP point man in Schultz (as opposed to Corey Potter). The only thing separating this PP from the very PP that finished 3rd in the NHL last year is the lack of Ryan Smyth for the front of net presence. That role will likely be filled by Hartikainen who is a very good AHLer with some NHL experience. Factor in the young guns being a year older (strength and experience), and I'm sure a PP that can click at 20% in the NHL (going against excellent PKers like Malhotra, Mitchell, etc.), should be able to fire in the 25-30% range in the AHL.

Also, The Nuge is a fine 2 way player. Try watching sometime rather than citing flawed advanced stats.

Marlies may not be as top heavy as other teams but they have a lot of balance.

Gardiner, Kadri, Colborne, Ashton are 1st round prospects. Blacker, Deschamps, Ross are 2nd round prospects.

Blacker is our 2nd best D prospect (as of now) and we expect a lot out of him this year. And frattin scores at a 50 goal pace in the minors. Holzer is NHL ready and Ranger is a former NHL player. Then we also have a few ahl stars. Scrivens has also proven hes a top 3 goalie in the A.

I know Im going to catch the marlies this season

Outside fan who doesn't care for the Oilers or Leafs here to say OKC wipes the floor with everone including Marlies all year. I never thought it possible to have a perfect season in pro hockey. This year that might happen.

People are getting a little out of hand with the Oklahoma projections.

Should be an interesting year for the Marlies as they continue to pound on the Dogs.

A top 4 team in the league last year just got 2 NHL stars, Justin Schultz, touted D prospect Martin Marincin and maybe even Taylor Hall. They will dominate this league. They're powerplay will be like 50% the NHL's 2nd best powerplay is coming to Oklahoma.

That is HIGHLY unlikely, this isn't a 20 or 30 game season we're talking about, we're talking about 76 regular season games. Injuries, slumps, running into a hot goalie, bad reffing, there are so many ways that teams can lose that it's pretty well impossible. This isn't basketball where skill overcomes everything all the time. We will likely be the best team in the league, but going undefeated is being pretty unrealistic IMO.

No they really won't. They will likely be the best team, but they will not go undefeated, not even close.

76 games man, that's a LOT of games! If somehow they do it, you will be the first to mention it and the rest of us will be having a heaping helping of crow, but I just don't see it happening.

I'm confused as to why people think RNH will have trouble with Albany's D when the two teams don't even play each other.

I predict the Barons will be around 30-10 at that time.

Call me on it if I'm wrong once 40 games are up.

It'll be fun reading this thread.

Bingo isn't the best by any stretch, but there's lots of talent down there and it's showing. Could be quite the turnaround season for them. Silfverberg and Zibanejad should be able to step right in and then there's guys like Lehner and Cowen who have already had success down there.

Came to post this, along with

Eberle = 0 pts
Hopkins = 0 pts

imo OKC has to be the best team on paper by a wide margin, but a bad start.

Bridgeport is 2-0, Nino with 4 points, Hamonic 3, Nelson 3. They look damn good, the depth is awesome.

What?
The only NHL star to not play a single NHL game?

It's hockey...good teams will lose. To think that Hopkins and Eberle will struggle in this league is as laughable as thinking they'll go undefeated. It's 2 games in to a 76 game season.

Yeah both players looked rusty to say the least, that said they should be up to the task next weekend. Lake Erie should get some credit as well as they played some solid team hockey and had some fine goaltending performances as well.

That's great for Nino's confidence, it'd be huge for the Islanders if he ends up regaining his confidence and becomes the guy that they hoped that he'd be when they took him 5th overall.

Sven Baertschi also has 4 points after 2 AHL games.

Maybe you should go back and read that again? he said 2 stars, Justin Schultz ie they got RNH and Eberle (the 2 stars), Justin Schultz, etc.

FWIW Schultz is 1-1-2 in his first 2 games and has been very solid for the Barons. Anaheim's scouts know their d-men, Schultz, Gardiner, Fowler, Vatanen (sp?), etc. Those guys know good D when they see them, very impressive IMO.
