Top 5 AHL teams so far (gonna go by winning percentage):
Manchester Monarchs 6GP 5-1-0 83.3%
Norfolk Admirals 6GP 5-1-0 83.3%
Charlotte Checkers 8GP 6-1-0 1 SOL 81.2%
Springfield Falcons 7GP 5-1-0 1 SOL 78.6%

Have they lost a season series? They split with Lake Erie, and have 12 more games to play against Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston. Considering the fact that they play 4 teams 40+ times I don't think that it's a stretch for the Barons to not lose a season series. Also you might want to reread the thread and check your prescription on your glasses, a single poster thought that the Barons would go undefeated, Oilers fans including myself told him that was not going to happen. If you'd like to make up other points, let me know so that I won't waste my time reading your posts anymore.

Damn those are some bad breaks, especially for De Haan. Hopefully both make full recoveries.

Lots of other factors go into making a winning team (part of why I don't get why everyone thinks that just cause Edmonton has their big 5 they're going to be cup contenders soon) so temper your expectations a bit)
Gotta ask what's up with Silfverberg and Zibanejad? Or that team in general. Can't be the goaltending's fault cause Lehner is doing great. I ask cause I drafted Silfverberg in a Dynasty draft and Zibanejad was used as a centerpiece in a trade proposal for Bobby Ryan and, well, the argument was Z-bad would easily make up for the lost offense and I'm not seeing it so far. I know its a small sample size and everything but can I get objective analysis on Silfverberg? (like of someone asks I'll say Etem is playing nowhere near the level many expected)
The secondary cast has been worst than they were last season, the reigning goaltender of the year has been garbage, etc. They'll be more than fine.

It's almost pointless to debate which defenseman is the best in the AHL right now. I mean, look at some of these names;
Ryan Ellis
Adam Larsson
Jared Cowen
Travis Hamonic
Justin Faulk
Dmitry Orlov
Brendan Smith
Stefan Elliott
Slava Voynov
Sami Vatanen
Justin Schultz
Oliver Ekman-Larsson
Jake Gardiner
Simon Despres
Is anybody really able to say that just one of these guys is the clear cut best of them all? I highly doubt it.

I left out the guys who I thought might just be a step down from the others. Barrie, Leddy, Barberio, Brodie, Gustafsson, Donovan, Rundblad, Brennan, Moore, etc.

Ok, but in all fairness he did play a full season last year in the NHL and outscored everyone on those lists. If his defensive game improves as it should and his offensive game even mildly improves he's a 40+ point puck moving Dman in the west, that's pretty good.

been a horrible mini stretch for sure. I think the start by Schultz and the rest of the team caught a lot of Oilers fans on the boards by surprise tbh. I know I saw the odd handful of Oiler fans coming to the main boards, both NHL and prospect wise, bragging, unabashed in some cases. But I think the majority were simply cautiously optimistic and of course shocked, mostly by the likes of Schultz. While the Baron's aren't this bad, the fact is they are young, and their depth is if not slightly overrated. Either way it's going to be a long year. I'm expecting things to continue along in their topsy turvy ways. It's clear the league is deep and extremely competitive this year, which is great.
Career AHLers are good enough to beat you if you coast and try to avoid injury, even if you are a very talented player. Also, there are a lot of young hungry players that are treating this AHL season as their training camp. They are trying to make the NHL.

I saw the heat barons game last night. what a pathetic display by the oilers eberle, hall and nopkins. they floated around the whole night and were bneched for most of the 3rd. you can tell they are there for pretty much conditioning.
did the season end already? Those awful awful barons. Tbh I thought their record would be a lot better by now but still a long ways to go. The oilers were off to a great start last year but you saw how it ended...not saying the opposite will happen here but the first few games of the season don't indicate how a team will do for the entire season. But I guess people will use any excuse to bash our young stars
We have been rolling with 4 forwards out there on most of our power plays so I bet it looks something like this:
Hall - Nuge - Hartikainen
Eberle - Schultz
Hartikainen has been looking good out there so far and works as a great screen in front of the net. As an Oilers fan this is going to be fantastic to see. It's just a shame Yakupov is over in Russia and not on the Barons too!
19 year old yakupov in the ahl...what did you forget...hmmm?

More of a reaction, of Oil fans, saying that with those stars they
would roll the League.
Oh...you're next. Why is the game starting at 10:30am CT?
Oklahoma City is obviously winning the calder cup, but the top five are:
Oklahoma City
Houston
Syracuse
Bridgeport
Springfield
Charlotte has to be in that mix somewhere. What they've done this year with starting the season on the road until November is just ridiculous. They might not have the star power of OKC, but their depth is just ridiculous.
