The Aeros seem to have the Barons number, Zucker is definitely a player, he had a field day against our slower than molasses defense. If the Barons want to make any noise this year they need to stop relying on guys like Plante, Henry, and Ringwald to play a regular shift. Plante has gone from AHL allstar to a guy that should be an AHL healthy scratch.

Coyle was a bit quieter than he was in our earlier meetings, perhaps he's missing Granlund? That said he's a rookie pro so there will be ups and downs. The Barons are close to getting some secondary scoring back in the form of Captain Josh Green, but as long as their D is this immobile they will have a hard time with teams that have speed and the Aeros and specifically Zucker have it in droves. While we weren't missing any Granlund or Brodin caliber players we were missing our top defensive center Vande Velde who was out for the birth of his child. The aforementioned Green, Tyler Pitlick (physical presence with speed), pest extraordinaire Anti Tyrvainen, big C prospect Ryan Martindale, and veteran C/W Tanner House who always puts in a hard days work.

Hackett also looks like he's ready to take the next step and be the Wild's backup if Harding's illness prevents him from resuming that role.

This point is so being over blown.
RNH played 1 season in the NHL, Eberle and Hall each played 2. It's not like these guys are seasoned NHL pro's, they're still only 19, 21 and 22 years old.

That doesn't mean they wouldn't be the best players on the Oilers. Because they clearly are.

Talent will get you so far, but you need to have some veteran leadership to go with it.
Also they're all right up there in league scoring. The Barons have had some lacklustre performance from their D and the secondary scoring has been late to the party. One line doesn't make a team.

Which is exactly NHL1674's point when she said that without them, the Barons would struggle mightily. And thank you for agreeing, even though it took a while.

The Barons will need to play a more defensive style if the lockout ends this year. The problem is that our defense is still slooooowwwww. Adding Corey Potter would probably be a big boost, but we'd still need another D or two that can skate out there. We are in need of a LHD that can skate well. On the flip side of the coin maybe guys like Paajarvi, Lander, Pitlick, etc. step up their games because they get some confidence going and more ice time? It's tough to say but IMO they need help regardless of if the NHL starts up again or not.

I don't think anyones doubting that taking away 3 NHL stars and the league's leading scorer will make the team worse, but its being badly overblown

Its also nice that the Oiler players playing for the Barons are finally getting to experience what playing on a winning team in pro hockey feel like.

We finally broke our losing streak with a strong performance from Etem(2 goals). Ever since they added Maroon to that combo of Etem and Wagner, they've become our best line.

Coyle seems to be the type that really needs a strong center to succeed. While Larsson is projecting very well for a 3C and has a decent chance to maybe be a 2C, he's much more grit than flash. Zucker is just an offensive force no matter where he lines up though.

Hackett's looking good again now. But he had a really really rocky start to the season. Whatever caused that seems to have passed and the Aeros have been riding him hard lately. He's been a big part of why this team is winning despite missing their two best players as well as guys like Bulmer and Kampfer.

Don't think Potter will be joining the Barons anytime soon, he's playing in Austria at the moment.

edit: Apparently he may not be staying though, his wife is expecting and they may return to Canada for that.

I'm pretty sure Potter's on a one-way contract so I don't even think it's a possibility that he joins the Barons.

Hall's goal last night was un-****ing real. Best goal I've ever seen live AINEC.

Hall and Nuge need to prove their NHL stars first. I could contend Eberle is a star.

It's not overblown. The Oilers are extremely top heavy. They really don't have a standout prospect group. MPS has been a major bust for them. They have very little secondary scoring, goalies have been meh and their defense slow.

Even if Minnesota calls up Brodin, Granlund, Scandella, Coyle, and Zucker, I think they would succeed.

Another great effort by the Syracuse Crunch to come back from being down 0-3 in the 3rd against the Connecticut Whale to win the game 4-3 in OT.

It was a great play all the way around, it started with a heady breakaway pass off the boards by Schultz.

That's pushing it IMO, you'd need to rely heavily on Hackett if that were the case. A rock like Scandella makes a big difference for your club and that's a lot of offense that you'd be sacrificing to boot.

Not necessarily. Our defense without Scandella and Brodin might be fine. We're missing Kampfer, but more or less it would be without Scandella but the defense they have now was pretty much the same as last year.

In fact, calling up Coyle and Zucker might do wonders for guys like Phillips, Bulmer and Larsson. Not to mention Fontain is a PPG guy right now with 8 goals, 11 assists. Connelly as well.

We got a lot of secondary scoring in Houston. It's kind of like the Minnesota Wild.

One way contract has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not he can play in the AHL.

Should be a great game tonight with the the Crunch facing off against Binghampton. Both teams have been on nice runs through November.
