Is the Ovechkin we all know coming back? Looks like it.

No, if anything, he wanted him to play some responsible hockey, or at least show some interest in the defensive zone. He wasn't putting him out there to kill penalties.

"letting the defense come to him naturally." Don't hold your breath.

looks like he lost a lot of damned weight, both fat and muscle. he could just be carb depleted in this photo but he looks, almost, skinny. he's what, 6'2"-6'3"?

you guys think he's back down to his rookie year weight of 212ish lbs? looks like it. let's see if this affects his game at all. rookie year ovy was a fast machine.

Yeah, he looks to have lost some muscle, too, but judging from the highlights, it doesn't seem to hurt him. But maybe it would hurt his ability to play as physical game in NHL as he has played. Maybe.

I sure hope he's coming back, he's just so awesome player to watch when he's on. I gotta watch him more closely at KHL.

I certainly hope so. I miss the old Ovy. It's been two and a half years...

Awesome hit. How come Ovi is wearing number 32, and how come their names are in English? Just wondering since I don't know too much about the Russian leagues.

It's in English because the league's become international. And 32 is his old Dynamo's number.

Gotcha. Thanks for the info. Ovechkin just looks weird in anything other than 8 to me.

He would of used 32 when he came over to the Caps but it is retired

Weird seeing Ovi in Leafs/Lightning-esque colours, and Kovi in a Rangers-like uniform.

I hope Ovi can return to form, its better for the game.

Interesting, I never knew that. 8 just seems like a speedy player/superstar number to me so it always seemed fitting for him. 32 comes off as a grinder type of number.

Interesting that Kovalchuk already has the 'C' with SKA as a temporary player.

As a Caps fan I'm hopeful but skeptical. He has two points in two games (in a low scoring league), and he looks pretty good, but we've seen this thread a dozen times for a reason. If he leads the KHL in scoring I'll get more excited.

lol @ the notion that storied teams like Dynamo would rip off team colours from "Tampa" or other non-entities

Hope so. Ovechkin at his best is 1 of the best players, if not the best, in the world.

The game highlights are available on the official KHL YouTube channel. This looks more like game promo
