He still finishes as a point per game player. He's currently at 989 GP with 989 pts. If he stayed healthy, I say he's around 1096 GP with 1110 pts.

What if Niklas Lidstrom never ended up as anything more than a 5/6 defenseman for the Wings?

They still win a Cup or two but not four.

What if the Rangers signed Gordie Howe when he attended camp with them instead of sending him home?

Edit: snagged again but .....The Oilers are left without a home & the Franchise relocates. The people of Edmonton angry at the fact they've sold out their building while being garbage start mass riots & the people of Vancouver laugh.... mostly because the people in Edmonton are doing it wrong.

NHL doesn't take as serious of a stance on concussions till another superstar gets knocked out.

What if the lockout ends & the NHL season is set to start on Dec 21st, 2012 however simultaneously at the start of the first game the magnetic polar shift occurs & wrecking all electrical devices?

Most NHL "tradtionalists" are entirely unaffected, as they still live in the Stone Age.

What would have happened if the NHL had expanded in 1945?

The 60s would have been the 80s, and the 80s would have been the 00s.

What if Fraser wasn't blind? (we all knew it was coming)

What if Ovechkin was two days older and Florida panthers drafted him in the 9th round of the 2003 NHL draft?

He wouldn't have been on the board in the 9th round. Someone would have grabbed him near the top of the 1st (if not 1st overall).

What if Tommy Salo didn't give up that center ice goal to Belarus?

90s expansion would have been not so south focused and we would have teams in Seattle, and Wisconsin, but no Florida or Nashville

What if the Ottawa Senators, Hamilton Tigers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Montreal Maroons, and New York Americans never folded

Hamilton and Ottawa both moved elsewhere (Hamilton becoming the NY Americans, Ottawa becoming the St. Louis Eagles).

Assuming that the Amerks, Eagles, Pirates, and Maroons never folded...

The NHL would have eventually expanded, bringing at least two more teams into the fold by the end of 1945. These would be the Cleveland Barons of the AHL, and another team from somewhere in the Midwest (Indianapolis? Milwaukee? Minneapolis?)

By being in on the ground floor and having the opportunity to supplant existing teams, the NHL surges to 2nd place in American popularity, behind only MLB. The startup NBA becomes convinced that putting teams in areas where the NHL is already popular is doomed to fail, and the entire league ends up being placed west of the Mississippi River. With too much space between teams and not enough support relative to the college game, the NBA collapses by 1953. It takes until the 1970s for another crack at a professional basketball league to be taken.

What would have happened if the flu epidemic had forced the shutdown of the entire NHL for either the 1918-19 or 1919-20 season?

They probably would have played hockey.

What if Saku Koivu wasn't taken out by a high stick in the opening round of the 2006 playoffs against the eventual Stanley Cup champions, the Carolina hurricanes?

Bear in mind that the Habs were up 2games to none.

He would be injured in 2nd round. SC goes to Edmonton.

What if Ziggy Palffy continued to play in Pittsburgh on Crosby line and Hossa never came to steel city?

The penguins would have still won the cup in '07 with Palffy as the playmaker.

What if the kings never made the trade for carter?

They wouldn't have even made the playoffs...And JJ would never have been a + player (which he was in CBJ!).

What if the Hawks never traded Hasek?

The biggest what if in hockey history is...
What if Clark had not gone out and intentional injuried Valery Kharlamov leg in game 6 of the 72 Canada-Russia Series.
