One of the great mysteries finally solved for me. Solved in pretty much the worst way. I never, in a million years, would've thought this was the reason why he never got another shot. He is the second best coach in franchise history and by all accounts a good guy. I'm really sorry to learn that his life took such a terrible turn. I wish him nothing but the best as he recovers. Brain injuries are not a joke.
They really should wear helmets that fit, and guys should be wearing mouth guards. Also, can we do away with the football style shoulder pads already? They've been talking about banning them since the days Rich Pilon was stalking the ice in search of predatory head shots.
Really? I've never heard of that. What style should they use?
Soft. Like they used prior to the late nineties. Of course this has nothing to do with Bob Francis. He was unlucky enough to play in an era where a severe concussion was called getting your "bell rung" and you were aupposed to play through it. The Broadstreet Bullies documentary on HBO had some shocking recollections of how concussions were treated.
I always wondered how he disappeared like that. At one point after leading the Coyotes I remembered a possible rumor of him going to the Senators.
I loved him for coaching the team to the playoffs at that time as that team was the only bright spot for a Coyotes fan in about 6-8 years. It's too bad he has had issues, but we all have issues and the best we can do is try to overcome them.
