Can someone explain to me why Belichick has all of the DBs face-guarding? They never turn to face the ball any more - was there a rule change on this? Or does Bill just believe in überconservative secondary play in this pass-happy league?
Most of it probably has to do with the lack of actual talent in the secondary, but the rules they put in after the Patriots, especially Ty Law, abused the Colts in the playoffs, don't help matters. I don't know what to think about the secondary anymore. It really seems like none of them can actually COVER a guy. I know the scheme makes it look worse to since they play that whole cover-2 pass the WR off style, but when they need to play man, they can't do it.
Let's hope he isn't headed to jail but Talib is an actual cornerback. No more Phillip Adams and antuan molden. McCourty on the left Talib on the right dennard at nickel. Good on paper

I agree with you about the secondary and maybe it is just bad man coverage, but it seems like every pass inside the red zone has the Pats DB with his back completely turned to the ball. It's so obvious and so frequent, I'd have to imagine it's being coached but I've never seen it before this year.
If we move McCourty back to cb, Do we become a man team over the bye?
McCourty, Talib, and Dennard in the nickel.
I would love to see a press man coverage team too many guys just sitting in the zone getting easy passes.
Chung Wilson get tight ends
McCourty...Dennard.... Talib cover wide recivers
Hightower to cover the backs, some tight ends
Mayo and Spikes to blitz more.
Pat Lee might be cut by the Raiders today. Anybody interested? He's been a starter for most of this season. I haven't had much of a chance to watch him play, but I have to think that most available corners need to be on New England's radar.
