depends how you look at it. gaborik's shoulder injury is what, 6 months? boyle's concussion was only a week or two... but then there are 'day-to-day' shoulder injuries and concussions like sauer... but idk... the fact that they said 'reevaluate' scares me.

ALTHOUGH
taking him out as a precaution does make it sound a lot less serious and like it's just a day-to-day, stay healthy for the nhl thing

I know everyone is mad about the lockout, but nobody forced Nash to go to Europe and play...

Just my 2c, but as a fan of this sport and team for nearly 20 years there has come a point for me where enough is enough. Nash should be playing a pre-season game right now, not going to play over seas because the players union are a bunch of greedy SOB's and the owners are a bunch of ****** bags.

What happens now if the lock out ends in a month and Nash is seriously injured? We rely on a Chris Kreider and Carl Hagelin to be the wings for Brad Richards? What happens if he is out for an extended period of time and Gaborik can't stay healthy when he finally returns from being injured himself?

Words can't even describe how irate I am right now.

This is an effing joke on the part of the league and the union. More so the union because of the % they get as compared to other leagues. They have nothing to complain about.
I do agree with this, As much as i love the NYR why should i support or give two ***** about the NHL after this crap?

Some tweets about today.

5 hrs of meetings today. Another meeting planned for tomorrow. But, none of what has been discussed will lead to an end to the lockout.

Well if there's one thing that would lighten my mood after an injury it's being in an awe-inspiring place like Lugano, Switzerland.

Some progress made today, while I don't think we'll see an agreement this weekend or even next week I feel like the two sides will come to their senses in October and we'll have hockey 2 weeks after that.

The PA wont get motivated until they start cancelling regular season games, this will impact the players financially. That's when we'll see action.

Owners "Lets put a cap on the amount of years a can sign for, but lets wait until after we give out FOUR 10+ year contracts (Sidney, Weber, Parise, Suter) in ONE off season..

PA "........"

I hate that there is a lockout and I think both sides are really greedy, but I just don't see why the players should once again cave to the owners who are giving out ridiculous contracts in the first place.

I don't think anyone wants them to cave, but Daly said the NHL is waiting for the PA to make an offer. They need to do something.

I just love how the players have to make a proposal that restricts their movement and reduces their salaries all in order to save the owners from themselves.

They are going to have to try to "merge" their proposals. Both sides are going to have to make concessions for a deal to get done.

The NHL is the only sport where owners refuse to use their leverage. They sign players to ridiculous long term contracts when they DO NOT have to. People want the PA to make a bad deal so they can watch hockey. Find a new hobby for a few months. Its called compromise. The NFL locked out their refs for almost two months. It hasn't been two weeks yet. The PA is leery on putting anything on paper with Bettman. They learned their lesson from 8 years ago.

Carolina gives Skinner a stupid contract. They decide not to assign him to the AHL because they don't want him to get hurt in the AHL. Another concussion. Skinner can suffer another concussion in either league. Carolina didn't need to sign Skinner to an extension with one year left in entry level and two years away from arbitration. They assigned Skinner to the AHL and then changed their minds. The system is designed for Carolina to have some leverage. Sather exercises that leverage. Then some stupid fans complain about Sather hard balling those players. Then the same fans complain about the PA being greedy. Can't have it both ways. MLB has salary arbitration after 3 years and free agency after 6. You don't see the number of long term contracts for young players in MLB. Player agent Steve Bartlett proposed scratching group II and going with the MLB system. Players get paid when they're free agents. Everyone is in a rush in the NHL to sign players. Big problem. The players scheduled to make $2M shouldn't be losing $400k in escrow. Owners don't want to honor the contracts they gave the players. Put a cap on escrow and they're will be a deal. The NHL wants a good chunk of that money back.

This lockout will not end unless the PA makes some serious concessions. There is no doubt Bettman and the owners are prepared to lose the whole season if thats what it takes to get the deal they want. They will make back the money from a lost season in the first 2-3 years of their new deal. If the PA is going to bend they better do it soon. Don't pull the same thing as '04, lose a season then crumble to the owners demands. They could have done that without costing themselves a years worth of paychecks. I don't think we will see NHL hockey this year.
