What would you guys pay for Tallinder, Volchenkov, maybe Salvador (although he just resigned).

The only other option is the Devils trading Zidlicky as a rental if they fall out of the race by the trade deadline, if there is a season, and the Oilers are in the hunt.

We have three veteran defenseman in Whitney, Smid and (Nick) Schultz who could be wearing As.

There definitely isn't a lack of leadership there.

Let's say it's Toni Lydman+ for Sam Gagner, what else would it take from the Ducks side for Edmonton to pull the trigger?

Stephane Robidas would be a perfect mentor and add some grit and leadership. 2nd rounder?

Not to argue but I have to disagree.

Both Whitney and Smid are hot headed. I love them both to death, and they are very much respected parts of the team.

But when it comes to leadership, I don't see it as much on the ice.

Smid has gotten much better, but in bad games both tend to fall apart defensively.

Schultz is pretty quiet, even on the ice. He is a very welcome veteran presence but we are still lacking that grit and leadership from the back end.

That is why I say someone like Volchenkov. Tons of playoff experience, great defensive play. And he can be mean when he wants to.

I don't even know where to begin with this... It's just so backwards... To start, the Oilers don't need a gritty leader on the blueline. They need a flashy puck mover... Kinda like that Schultz kid they just signed

Josh Gorges for Paajarvi? IDN if this is fair BUT Gorges plays with tons of heart and is a very solid Defensive Dman would look great in an oil jersey.

Gorges is our 2nd best dman, he's a first pairing dman for us.(He would be for many other team..) and he's considered to be one of the best shutdown d in the league (if not the best ?)

So pretty much no.

Pass. Gagner is not what Buffalo needs at center, and Leopold logs a lot of minutes for us that would not be easy to replace. We already have 2 young defensively deficient centermen; if we wanted a center like Gagner, we could've kept Roy.

This is, regardless, an excellent way to troll both fanbases.

Smid's 26. I don't think he counts as an experienced vet. Whitney's in his 20s as well.

Schultz just turned 30 one month ago, but he at least has ten years' experience.

As for the Jackets... we picked up our vet blueline mentor during the offseason, with Aucoin. We kinda need him.

That's all we got.
With how Liles was playing pre-concussion (34GP, 21P, 50 point pace, to put that in perspective only Karlsson, Byfuglien, Campbell, Chara and Pietrangelo had 50+ points) I think it would be best to just give him another chance playing with Phaneuf. People seem to forget that he was playing great early on.

This wasn't intended to be a negative thread. Just a hypothetical trade scenario for a good veteran on the blueline.

I can honestly see why other teams view us as heavily biased with statements like that...

We must not have been watching the same season last year if you honestly think that with J.Schultz everything is fine.

Offers went out to Streit and Yandle for a reason, if the Oil brass were content they would not have asked.

And Nick Schultz could very well jump into the leadership role next season, he was a leader in Minni but I didn't see it as much this year. I really hope he does because he eats a ton of minutes.
