is it possible for us to change the NJD logo to kovalchuk's face? horns coming out of his ears and the tail is the tounge sticking out of his hellish mouth? the devils have always been about players, not teams, so I think the theme is perfect. rg?

No, he has a 6.66 cap hit. Clearly overpaid due to laziness.

I think the issue is you sold an entire generation players on an idea of TEAM. You sold the whole league an image of how you supposedly do business and what it means to be a Devil....You told everyone if you come here "No one is greater than the team"

Then all of a sudden, literally overnight, it seems all of that wasn't true. It appears that it was just a line (lip service) and a crock of poop.

So the Philosophy you've been preach'in for 20+ years is BS -- when as soon as you can get your hands on a flashy player the "Team First" philosophy goes out the door.

51.4% Sedin
48.5% Kovalchuk

Amazingly close considering TSN is Canadian...

Which is why I wasn't entirely stunned when Zach left since Lou didn't give their team guy the same deal. Zach's golly Ho hum! demeanor and media BS is too much though.

Locker room dynamic...If you think adding Kovalchuk doesn't change the Dynamic you're being naive.

If you don't think that 100 Million dollar contact doesn't come into every single playerís mind, especially during a slump where people are looking to him to do something extraordinary specifically because of that contract, again you're being naive.

How does the acquisition of Kovalchuk destroy the notion of the "team"? Kovalchuk has fit in quite well and seems to be very well liked.

The Devils certainly looked like a team this past playoffs.

Never in my wildest imagination could I have dreamed things would be this bad. There really is nothing more to say on the subject that hasn't been said.

If you still donít realize this was the wrong player for the wrong team you never will. But I don't think I want to say anything further on the subject.

Marty Owns is the ultimate troll sometimes. In a good way playful way though. Not an annoying or bad one. He tends to say things sarcastically without using the sarcastic smiley. I've fell for it before too.

At least I think so.

I think he would've won if the poll was up for a couple more hours.

MO is channeling his inner Jim. It must play hell with his zinc levels and Chi but he's doing it...

He has played 44 games as a Devil........Has he been dominate once? Has he ever been dominate????

Was what people were really seeing in Atlanta was a rover with zero responsibility? And that because he got to do whatever he wanted he looked "dynamic" and dominate, but also cost his team quality of play?

Does that not beg the question to be answered? Can he play in a structured environment? Is he a square peg in a round hole?

I don't know, but this "give it time" stuff is wearing thin. Wayne Gretzky scored 50 goals in 39 games........Kovalchuk has been here for 44 -- I have seen nothing to warrent his contract or the hoopla that was spent on him. Nothing -- not a flash, not even a glimmer of hope...And if you have PLEASE enlighten me.

At the time, it may not have been the right player.

With the style DeBoer has implemented and the direction the team is going, as well as his defensive improvements, he is the right player.

Wow, Rob Niedermayer and Dean McAmmond. 09-10 was an interesting year.

I really liked McAmmond.

He was incredibly fast, and that kind of speed can change any physical disadvantage, etc, except when Steve Downie is coming around the other side of the net.

McAmmond Eggs!

I'll never forget that game - 1st Kovy game and I was there. Comeback magic happened once we ditched our seats on the glass and moved up with the Cowbell and got loud! LOL

Dean Mcammond was very good for us that season for the role he was given. Think he was also signed to play in the AHL, but was called up later. He played pretty good for a player who was supposed to be washed up. Rob Niedermayer was very good for us too if I remember right. They were almost like that seasons Carter, and Bernier.

The whole second half of that season we were awful. We were injury plagued early on, and did fine. Then the injuries caught up I think and we collapsed. Obviously something happened in that locker room too with Langenbrunner and Lemaire once we got healthy again, and we still sucked. I was walking up the aisle when the Devils scored the second goal in that Leafs game. I guess it was Mcammond's goal. I was only a row up, and went right back to my seat. I was so disgusted with that game it was literally one of the only times I was ready to leave a game early.

McAmmond was truly a stroke of luck. To get what we got out of him was incredibly impressive for a player his age who had been somewhat in limbo, especially after what Downie did to him when he was a Senator. That was Downie, right?

Oh and I'm thoroughly enjoying MartyOwns' Jimitation

Niedermayer scored the first goal of the season that year, and he only had like one or two practices beforehand.

McAmmond was used as a defensive specialist but he excelled. His speed was outstanding but he could also play defense pretty well and his offense was decent too.
