Trading Partners

What teams would be the best trading partners for us *if* we were to deal Matty and Miller? My thoughts are that a young team with young D that are a player or 2 away from contending for the cup would be our best bet. I know some of you don't like the thought of us trading them or at least Matty, but just entertain the idea for a moment. We would want good young talent in return and/or good picks. We may have to add a Kanko, Karlsson or Tambs to sweeten the deal. We may also have 2 second round picks if we don't resign Steckel.

*If* we were I would say that we should deal Norstrom to Montreal, and try and acquire Komisarek.

One of the older teams looking to get over the top, NJ, Philly, Toronto, maybe a lesser thought of team, Atlanta, Florida.

Toronto could seriously bite on either Matty or Miller. They're always hard up for d-men at the trading deadline.

I think if Norstrom went to the East somewhere, he would get some recognition for once. He would just be a warrior for any team that goes anywhere in the playoffs. The guy is just a beast.

I think the Kings won't get very much from trading Miller, considering he's an aging and INJURY PRONE veteran. This said, his contract is an insult and if I'd be DT, I'll try to send him somewhere. Matty's not so young anymore too, but maybe we could get something decent in return for him. Toronto could be interested, but what do they have to offer? They've already sold their farm to the Rags for the Leetch. Maybe Colaiacovo, but I guess the Laughs want to keep him.

No chance that the HABS would trade Komisarek.
He's an untouchable, I think.

I wasn't really think about some of these older teams, but more of the younger teams almost there that it wouldn't kill their future to trade a 1st or a top prospect.
Atlanta, Preds, TB, Florida or the Sens. Some teams out west like Van, Flames and even Phoenix though it's unlikely we'd be shipping him to a divisional rival.

As far as I am concerned Komisarek is overrated and we would have to overpay to get him.
We already have Gleason, Grebs and Petiot. I would hold onto Dempsey and Norstrom. Miller needs to string together a healthy 3 or 4 months before he has any real value.

I tend to agree. It's funny how when a lot of Habs fans talk about him, it's always about the boneheaded plays he makes in his zone, but when it comes to trade talks he freakin' Wayne Gretzky.

However, I do think that he has a good bit of upside; particularly when it comes to offense. Why else would we want him if he didn't right? Yet if he's going to cost Matty and then some, he's not worth it.

I keep saying this and hoping someone will listen. Regardless of how the CBA shakes out, there will still be teams that are more concerned with winning now than hording their prospects. There will still be teams willing to overpay for a guy that can shutdown the leagues best players regardless of how much he makes.

And if I'm wrong, then we keep him. No big deal. If we can't get a return that going to significantly improve the team, then Matty's leadership and experience will be more than worth the dollars that we are paying him.

Actually, Komo is already part of next year's defensive corp and has been playing well defensively but hasn't done much offensively. He won't amount to much offensively I'd say... but can and should become very good defensively.

Thing is we don't really need a left handed dman. We've got Souray, Markov and then Hainsey who sould be viable enough to fill the last spot, if not then there's Bouillon.

Souray-Komisarek
Markov-Rivet
Hainsey/Bouillon-Brisebois

We're kinda set...

As for the one poster above who mentionned us as an "old team".... what?

I still think he has O potential. He just hasn't been asked to play that role yet.

I agree. I had forgotten they signed Cullimore.

I think the best one posted so far is Boston. You also gotta think about Washington and Pittsburg too.
