Calgary isn't helping the Stars tonight, but Philadelphia did win. Dallas should be tied for 7th with Phili after tonight. IIRC, Dallas would have the tiebreaker for the lower pick based on goal differential. They're tied on everything else.

I have no doubt in my mind that Philly, Carolina, Tampa and Carolina will all have more points than Dallas by the end of the year. So that would give us a 4th overall pick I believe

I'm not even going to start thinking about that.

Second we do, they'll get enough points etc.

obviously would love Drouin, Jones or Mackinnon, but we will need to win the lottery for that. (or a big trade up which GMJN doesn't have the balls to do)

Would be more than happy with one of Barkov, Lindholm or Monahan

At the moment my heart is set on Lindholm

sjci we suck so bad we tried Loui Eriksson as a top six center tonight. Think on that.

We have this schedule too

04.09 - vs Los Angeles
04.12 - at Nashville
04.13 - vs San Jose
04.15 - at Chicago
04.18 - vs Vancouver
04.19 - at St. Louis
04.21 - at Los Angeles
04.23 - at San Jose
04.25 - vs Columbus
04.27 - vs Detroit

I see it shall be a battle to the end on who can suck more! Trading our captain today has most likely demoralized the team so hopefully we go on a nice suckfest streak. I don't think either of us will out tank Florida, Colorado, or Calgary, so it looks like 4th is up for grabs. Thankfully we (Buffalo) has the 2nd worst ROW so if we end up tied, we get to pick ahead of you haha and I hope you win that extra game in hand you have right now

EDIT: Our Schedule is pretty rough too. Sure, we have a lot of "home" games, but the fans in the arena boo the team soo hard its not really a home game haha.

4/05 - vs Ottawa
4/07 - vs New Jersey
4/09 - @Winnipeg
4/11 - vs Philadelphia
4/13 - vs Montreal
4/14 - vs Tampa
4/17 - @Boston
4/19 - vs NY Rangers
4/20 - @Pittsburgh
4/22 - vs Winnipeg
4/26 - vs NY Islanders

You may say that, but Buffalo has a special talent for going into "Ultra Suck Mode" when facing the SE. We're 2-8-2 against the SE

YOU SHALL NEVER OUT TANK US!!!11!!!!1!

http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHLlottery.html

This will be an interesting link over the next 3 1/2 weeks! It takes into account strength of schedule but won't be able to cope with the fact that some teams have sold more than others.

Currently predicted with the 5th worst average finishing position (5th overall) with a 2% chance of making the playoffs (LOL) and a 35% chance of finishing bottom 5.

I might take this data and figure out the lottery probability from it later on.

How come no one is talking about this Russian kid Nichushkin?!

http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=108661

I was in shock to realize that after him catching my eye, I found out he's only turned 18 yesterday(3.4.). He's currently playing with Traktor in the KHL Eastern Conference Finals and the Game 7 will be played today at 11 AM ET.

He's moved in the same line with the experienced wingers Alex Popov and Vitaly Antipov but still he had the puck most of the time they are deep in the attacking zone in Game 6.

Rick Nash, Bobby Ryan or James van Riemsdyk comes to mind but still he looks like he could be a lot better in years to come..

He is getting talked about, just not here. There's some interesting stuff on the prospects board. One scout has reportedly said "definite top 5, could even be the best forward in the draft"

Ok so as I threatened, I've used sportsclubstats odds to calculate pick probabilities taking into account the draft lottery. Personally I think the sportsclubstats data overestimates our likely finish position as we have just made several significant "selling" trades. i.e. Apparently there is a >1% chance we make the playoffs, which is a joke.

1st ov: 6.05%
2nd ov: 1.3%
3rd ov: 4.2%
4th ov: 9.9%
5th ov: 12.7%
6th ov: 12.2%
7th ov: 10.3%
8th ov: 9.1%
9th ov: 8.1%
10th ov: 7.1%
11th ov: 6%
12th ov: 5%
13th ov: 4%
14th ov: 3%

Draft is 7 deep if you include the russian-Newy should not be able to screw it up unless he takes a goalie .Judging by what they threw out there last night, somewhere around 5 is likely.
