Yakupov has 14 points in 13 games and is a -3 as a forward.
Rielly has 21 points in 20 games and is a +2 as a defenseman.

Rielly > Yakupov AINEC.

If only that is how it worked *sad face*

Tell me about it...making comparisons on players neither of which have even played in the same league together nor play the same positions. The nerve.

As a Dman he would be setting up potentially better scorers and if he has the high iq and wheels on that ice surface, well, we just dont know.Lets not forget he is 200 lbs, not the frame of a boy at all.

You can't judge a guy by one game. I watched the Nuge in Red Deer a couple times and he was invisible, sure looks good in Edmonton though.

Please temper expectations guys, I don't want him to get compared to Bobby Orr and then fans get angry because he isn't putting up 30+ points in his first NHL season.

to be honest and i know ive only watched a couple games on tv, (same with murphy and rielly) and it seems like rielly is heads and shoulders better. im very excited about this prospect.

Murphy didn't impress me at the russia challenge or even at last nights game

I just think its funny when some Habs fans always call out Leafs fans for hyping Rielly, when were on his first thread, there on Gallys 5th.

Murphy seems like he forces plays a lot and doesn't think through his options, instead opting to hold the puck until its too late.

I saw the Canada/Russia challenge games in Halifax, and Rielly was much better than Murphy. I'm sure he will pan out, but as of now it seems to me as if Rielly has a higher ceiling.

Haven't seen Rielly enough times to compare him to Murphy, but Murphy rushes the puck quite a bit. And when watching the Canada/Russia challenge, Murphy had a lot more rushes than Rielly.

not to mention hogs it all the way up the ice so he can take a bad angle shot thinking he can snipe from anywhere...

Should add that there is more Rielly talk there than anywhere else aside from here and the prospects forum. And generally it's complimentary.

I hope Gally and Rielly both become franchise players and that leads to better teams and rivalry. Rielly still being the better of the two ofcourse.

Rielly's team has 7 wins and 14 losses.
Yakupov's team has 13 wins and 9 losses.

Someone will fit right in with their NHL club and someone will have to adjust.

We know Morgan Rielly's numbers are pretty impressive thus far, but what is most impressive to me is he is a +2 on a team that is -13 in GF/GA with the ice time he gets.

Houdini couldn't do better.

Thread is about Morgan Rielly not Galchenyuk. Keep it that way. If you want to discuss Galchenyuk, try MTL's board or even better, the prospect board.

Habs fans are happy they got Gally, after a slow start they were probably sweating a little.

Whereas Rielly has been good out of the gate for us starting with the Russia/Canada series.

I wouldn't trade places with any of the top 5 teams that picked. I don't think any of the the other teams would either with the exception of the Isles.

We got a good one, it's early but you don't have to be a hockey expert to see Rielly was the right pick for us. Leafs fans are happy, that's all that matters.

He's playing Kootenay tonight, good chance to rack up some points.

You're darn right about that one. After all, Edmonton has finished 30th, 30th and 29th. Yakupov will have to go from a club winning games to a club losing games.

Rielly will go from a team that is losing a lot of games, to losing a little less.

I'm so happy with the prospect of Rielly being on our blue line for a decade that I wouldn't even mind one bit if we picked another top D prospect this year.

A top 10 pick gets you someone like Pulock at worst, and at best it gets you Jones. If not D, then we're a lock to get a stud winger/C prospect.

Defense wins championships..I don't care if we turn into Nashville (but with slightly better forwards) if we can make the playoffs consistently and be in it for the Cup.
